My wife and I stayed in the Pioneer Inn for two nights in July. We had stayed there two years ago, and we liked the turn of the century architecture, the free parking, and the historic central location. We had no need for a big pool, but we wanted to walk frequently between the restaurants/shops and the hotel’s shade to... more

When we first entered the Pioneer Inn we were dissapointed. The rooms are smallish, kinda old decor, there's no parking onsite and no elevator to ease the pain of hauling your own dive gear. But the next morning we realized how good we really had it. The Pioneer Inn is directly across from the harbor where the dive boat departs... more

A couple of years ago I took a cruise around the Hawaiian islands. We stopped in Lahaina, Maui and I vowed to go back and stay at the Pioneer Inn. We did just that this year and it couldn't have been better! This hotel isn't a fancy resort, but the location can't be beat! It is right by the banyan... more

I have been to Maui 4 times now and I've stayed at the Westin Ka'anapali, the Embassy Suites (back when it was a hotel), and the Grand Wailea previously. Since I was going to Maui on my latest trip alone I decided to be a bit more economical and stayed at the Pioneer Inn. I'd noticed it on previous visits... more

Historic Hotel in the centre of Lahaina with very attractive external appearance. The rooms were designed for a very different and older era and are dark and appear small and fairly cramped. The historic design of the balconies incorporated no privacy screening and so were effectively shared in common. Better, of course, than nothing at all. The common areas were... more

We stayed at the Pioneer Inn for a week in April/May 2006 during a three week trip to Maui and the Big Island. We knew there was no beach nearby but chose to base ourselves here for the night life – accepting that it would be quite a long drive to our favourite beach. We stayed in a Queen room... more

We had traveled to Maui many times and always made the comment that some day we would love to stay at this hotel. We finally booked a weeks vacation in Febuary and could not of been more pleased. From the time we arrived we were treated very well indeed and had no complaints. The room was small but very clean... more

My husband and I loved everything about this hotel. We stayed in a room overlooking the Banyan tree two summers ago and have booked the same side again for our trip next month. A previous reviewer said he didn't understand all of the good reviews but from his comments, I understand why he didn't like the hotel. First of all,... more

We stayed here from 6/9/06 through 6/13/06 and loved it. The location cant be beat, right in the heart of this quaint town. The room was on the small side but clean and besides, who stays in the room in maui except to sleep. The noise from outside is not bad, only one of the nites that we stayed(thursday) u... more

My wife and I stayed at the Pioneer Inn for four nights at the end of June. Prior to our trip, we were encouraged by all the positive reviews read on this site. And upon my return I see yet more positive reviews. I'm not one to post a review like this, but I believe in this case people need... more
