Tanna runs a very good operation. She serves a good fruit plate at breakfast, with the usual accompaniments. The best things: she knows the island intimately, and has good advice (and lots of stories) to give; she is very generous--providing water, iced water bottles, coolers, beach chairs, boogie boards, snorkel gear, beach mats and towels, hats, binoculars....We enjoyed our week... This was our second trip to the Maui Guesthouse, the last time six years ago. The quality was great then & has only improved since. The house is in a residential neighbourhood, about a 20 minute walk (or two minute drive) to the heart of Lahaina. It falls into the don't judge a book by its cover category. The neighbourhood... We stayed at the Maui Guest House for 4 nights earlier this month and had a wonderful time. The people (particularly Amanda) were very friendly and went out of their way to make us feel at home. We liked being within a very short drive of town, and the hot tub in the room was fantastic, particularly after long days... More

This was our first trip to Maui, and staying at Tanna's Maui Guest House was a wonderful experience. Her home is amazing and in a quiet location. Tanna is super helpful, a lot of fun, and very, very attentive to everyone's needs. Amanda had just arrived from Alaska to help Tanna, and she fit in right away. If we return... More

We just stayed 5 nights at the guesthouse with another couple and loved every minute of it. Tanna is a great host and Amanda puts together a mean fruit plate. We're looking forward to our next visit!! I can't find any negative things to say. It was just fantastic!!! Thanks Tanna and Amanda!! More

My 16 year old daughter and I stayed for 7 nights in January and cannot say enough good things about this place. If you are a party animal liking late loud nights this is not for you. For everyone else it's perfect. It is an immaculately kept home away from home with every facility. Huge rooms, hot tubs, Huge plasma,... More

Tanna is the greatest host and has everything needed for your explorations on Maui. As others have mentioned, there's great Tommy Bahama beach chairs, towels, coolers, ice, snorkel gear. There's a fully equipped and stocked kitchen in the main living area and a grill outside. Coffee, tea, fruit, muffins, bagels, cereal, juices, etc. every morning. Fantastic! Washer and dryer are... A must stay destination! The pictures are for real and we are so glad that we stayed here. Tanna has thought of everything for holiday travellers - the rooms are spacious, a hot tab at the back, the breakfast plentiful and fresh, access to a variety of herbal teas, ice tea and lemonade to drink, free use of snorkelling gear... We spent a lot of time finding the best place for our family to stay on Maui (Dec 2011) and we are extremely pleased with how all that research payed off as The Maui Guest House with Tanna as host turned out to be the perfect home away. If you see this review, skip the rest of the alternatives and... More
