We have been going to Hawaii for the last five years and spend two weeks at Pililaau ARC each year. We then stay at the Hale Koa for three days before leaving. Over the years we have spent to much time in Honolulu and love the escape to Waianae. There a seldom more than a handful of people on the... more

Family of 7 including Granpa and ma; Adult parents and 2 grandchildren arrived @ 1PM and had to wait while they finished cleaning 3 Bedroom cottage --50 yards from beach!!! It pays to note that check-in is 1600 hours...so we went to town and had lunch. Grandkids w/parents to Taco Bell(just outside gate to left) and old folks to Hannara... more

The cottage was extremely outdated and dirty. I was afraid to touch anything because the whole place was so disgusting. My husband and I were supposed to stay for 3 days. We arrived right at sunset (which was beautiful), but left as soon as we got up in the morning. There is a restaurant on-site that has ok food, but... more

Yes the accommodations can use some updating and traffic can be bad as the congestion gets worse each year on the islands due to the fact that its a wonderful place to be. But the west side of the island is beautiful. The accommodations were great for the price. I stayed 2 weeks and the staff were great at helping... more

We planned to stay for 2 weeks but left after one week. The minus's outweigh the pluses. We (spouse & 3 young kids) stayed at one of the facilities’ three "Deluxe" 3-bedroom cottages. Deluxe , as used here, is greatly overly exaggerated. The entry roadway to the facility was was indistinguishable, rough, and foreboding of the lack of quality to... more

My wife and I stayed for 3 days before taking the Super Ferry to Maui. We were looking for a place to stay that was inexpensive and quiet. We stayed in a 2 bedroom cottage. The rooms were clean but outdated. They could use some upgrading. There were ants but it is a tropical climate. There is a lanai, picnic... more

My fiance and I stayed in the PARC cabins after we stayed in a nice hotel in Waikiki. It was a mistake. The other hotel we stayed in was only $10 more a night, and offered so much more. The bed in our room at PARC was so uncomfortable we had a hard time sleeping. The "maid service" changed the... more

The rec center is located in a part of Ohau that is not geared toward tourists. It is a 30+ minute drive to anywhere and at busy times of the day can take over an hour. The cabins are older, but are being remodeled this summer. We were in a two bedroom with six people and were very cramped. The... more

Stayed 12 days at the Army Recreation Center. Staff were very helpful and checkin was simple. The cabins are OK in that Army way - they are remodeling, although the bathrooms really need a better upgrade - ditch the mildew-encouraging tile! Get some fiberglass shower inserts! Also, we found some things under the bed (such as a month-old newspaper) that... more

My wife and I have stayed at PARC a number of times over the past years and can't say we had any problems that weren't resolved with a call to the front desk. Once we had a group staying in the cabin next to us that was a little rowdy, but nothing to be concerned about, because the security was right on... more
