We reserved a room at this inn and made our other plans around that resevation. Hours after we made the reservation, that was guaranteed, we received a call that we need to add a day in order to keep the reservation. I was surprised to read the negative reviews on this site, because my experience at the Chiltern was completely delightful. The owners were gracious and welcoming, and the property itself was exquisite. I would hightly recommend the Chiltern for any special occasion - anniversaries, honeymoons, engagments, etc. more

What a wonderfully charming, elegant atmosphere! We spent three nights at the Chiltern, and it was a wonderful way to celebrate the last warm days of the season. The room was beautiful and spotlessly clean, and the staff and owners were very friendly and accomodating. The property is indeed one of the nicest B&B properties we've ever visited; however, it is marred by the management's disinterest in their guests. Only after we arrived did we discover that the innkeepers own several properties in Bar Harbor and that they would rarely if ever be present at the inn.
