Charming Japanese style hotel in charming Japan Town. Painted screens create huge murals on the walls, and roll back to reveal huge windows. Love the deep Japanese style tub and the bath salts - made for a relaxing bath after pounding the SF pavement all day and night! Yes, if you spend your vacation inspecting every inch of the rooms,... more

Great hotel, close enough to the action. This Japanese-style hotel had great rooms. Everything was spotless and the staff were extremely helpful and courteous. more

My first trip to San Francisco and I picked this hotel because I got a great deal. I loved the neighborhood (Japantown), it was not as busy as most of the city, quieter, safer, surrounded by great Japanese restaurants, and always had at least 3 cabs waiting outside to wisk us away to the clubs. My next trip to SF... more

On the Hotel's website they state the hotel recently remodeled and updated. The rooms looked nothing like the photos on the website. The first room was smelly, small, had broken fixtures in the bathroom, and a smoke detector falling from the ceiling. we complained. The second room while it was bigger and did not smell, had peeling wallpaper, broken closet doors,sink... more

We had a wonderful 5-night stay at the Kabuki. Our room was quite large with beautiful shoji screens. We had gotten it on booking.com for $109 a night. We liked the location since it is right on the bus line and not as "noisy and busy" as the center of San Francisco. We had a car which we parked next... more

Thought this would be a nicer place all around. Restaurant in the hotel was closed more than it was open...so forget room service. Attention to details in the room was spotty. Location of the hotel is great and it was quiet and felt comfortably small. more

I was initially very excited to book the Kabuki, having become addicted to JDV hotels, the Vitale in particular! The hotel rooms however look nothing like the glossy pictures and were a huge, huge disappointment! On arrival the hotel seemed very understaffed, a que at the front desk and one porter in sight who was busy with a wedding guest.... more

Location in Japan Town was excellent and close to great food and culture. Hotel was OK but nothing out of the ordinary. Lobby and Garden were as described and quite beautiful but the rooms were basic and standard at best. My number one complaint was the popcorn ceiling. Really?...in this day and age? Scrape that old stuff off! The bathroom... more

We stayed here with our 6 and 9 year old boys in a corner king room with a rocking view of the city and sliding door that opened along two walls. Our boys loved it! They love hotels in general but this one got a big thumbs up from them for its uniqueness...the deep soaking tub, the sliding doors, the... more

Found a great rate via their facebook page & so glad we did... Pro: wonderful location, comfy bed with crisp linens, great shower pressure & a nice flat screen / Cons: smaller than expected room (fine but low frills & nowhere near five star) & no soaking tub, so be sure to ask if that's what you want Overall, a... more
