The hotel is certainly not fancy and the furnishings are a little dated, BUT, the value for money is fantastic. We stayed in a family suite for one night while on transit to Australia and would have been happy to stay for longer. The suite contained a seperate king bedroom, master king bedroom combined with lounge, huge walk in closet... more

We called and were offered a standard queen for $59 including parking and continental breakfast. We haven't stayed in a place that inexpensive in Northern California for many years. But we needed to be in the city for an appointment early on Monday morning--and the Bay Bridge was still under repair. So we decided, what the heck, and drove over... more

From the moment we got there and were greeted with a smile and given a map of great places to go and, the history of SF. Everyone made us really feel welcome! The rooms were clean and the hotel was near everything but, you didn't have to pay the high price. I loved the little yellow building. :-) I really... more

The Castle Inn is a great example of the unexpected gems you can find through the wonders of Trip Advisor! When the B&B I'd booked stuffed up my reservation, I had only a few days to find somewhere new to stay in SF for under $200/night. I like comfort, but value some self-catering facilities over room service and a spacious... more

My friend and I stayed in the one bedroom suite at the Castle Inn for 5 nights in October. The reviews on Trip Advisor were completely correct. This Inn is a hidden gem in a city known for expensive hotels. First, the area was ideal. Within walking distance to the waterfront and lots of great shopping/markets. It was safe and... more

We chose this location based on the reviews and we were VERY happy. The Castle Inn is charming, very CLEAN and the hotel staff absolutely wonderful (especially Maria). Another reviewer mentioned, and I agree, that the continental breakfast is the bare minimum and consists of coffee, OJ, apples, granola bars and pastries on a ledge near the check-in desk. If... more

My wife & grown up daughter recently stayed at the Castle Inn in the 2 bedroom suite. If you want a reasonably priced hotel in the heart of San Francisco, with FREE parking & FREE wi-fi, this is it. The only down side - it can get noisy. Try the wonderful Chinese restaurant, the Tai Chi just around the corner... more

Traveling to San Francisco for medical treatment, we found Castle Inn conveniently located to both the medical center and downtown sights. We were comfortable with the price in return for the room. Another plus was the staff. They were willing to take time to give directions, and to show us on the map where to go and not to go.... more

San Francisco is expensive and if you can find a centrally located, clean hotel that doesn't cost a fortune then you have a find. Also has free parking which is a Godsend in that city. more

One difficulty when travelling to an unknown big city is to foresee what the location and surroundings will be like. With hindsight the location was great - I would not have wanted to stay in Union Square or even Fisherman's wharf - too busy and touristy. Being around Russian Hill felt like being a local - quiet and residential yet... more
