the rooms are extremely cold, you have to ask the receptionist three times for them to actually put the heat on. rooms on the street are very noisy. You literaly hear everything from outside but also the TV and shower from the neighbours! Staff is ok. Hotel very well located if you keep walking north. Do NOT ever try walking... More

Reasonably priced hotel. Comfortable and clean. ( The bed was really comfortable). Very friendly and helpful staff. Walking distance to Union Square, Westfield Mall, Market St. . Just next to Taylor St. Coffee Shop, the best breakfast ever!

Myself and two friends have just finished a three day stay here, and it was very squishy! We're lucky we didn't have a forth person! There was no air conditioning, just a small fan, so luckily it has been cold, cause it has been very warm and stuffy in the room! It is a very basic small room, that is... More

Not in the nicest section of the city, and at night, people were just outside the building shouting. The room was clean, the staff was great, and I thought the bed was more comfortable than the one I slept in the night before at the Double Tree. Within walking distance of Union Square and a couple of cool bars. I'd... More

I stayed for 2 nights for a business trip. I had read all the reviews and was close to taking a chance, in the same price range, to bid on a room close by. I'm happy with my room and stay. Why? 1) very friendly staff 2) clean, comfortable room 3) excellent location to things The suggestions or things that... More

Pros: 1) Semi friendly staff 2) Conveniently located across from the Hilton which was the center of the conference I was in SF to attend Cons: The hotel was junk. Countless issues: 1) The shower was dangerous - cold and then scalding hot the next second (I exited with red burns) 2) Furniture was old, chipped wood, dented 3) No... More

The staff was very nice. The location is close to many restaurants and public transport, but only one block from a not too safe part of town. I was out by myself a few times and felt generally safe except when walking west of the hotel toward the Tenderloin area. We had a room facing a street and slept fine... More

Got our reservation on Hotwire, so read reviews after booking. We were dreading what we had gotten into, but were pleasantly surprised. Ice water and lemonade in the lobby on arrival; helpful, courteous staff. We upgraded for $10, not sure what it got us, but based on the reviews, we figured if it got us a clean bathroom , it... We recently completed an enjoyable three-night stay at the Hotel Mark Twain. The rooms are small, as you might expect for a SF boutique hotel, but our double room was comfortable and clean. The staff was welcoming and responsive, and the lobby and hotel bar and restaurant quite nice. We like this area of San Francisco, as we enjoy the... More
