Certainly nothing spectacular, but a great location, free wifi, friendly staff, tiny but adequate fitness center, and all at a good price.

Location-wise,it is an ideal choice, with BART,cable car stop, union square, scores of restaurants at a stone's throw. Some reviews mentioned about some dodgy character in this area, which is true and not true. I do see some homeless ppl and bums nearby, but i actually feel safe and never feel threatened. They just "have their lives". Immediately greeted by a counter staffer...

Upon arrival the hotel looks horrible, due to the location, however the rooms are rather adequate. The hallways, reception area etc are rather unclean. The rooms are very small in size which was unexpected and the bathrooms are quite dated. Taking all this into consideration, the hotel is in a good location to all the popular shopping areas. Good hotel...

Booked a quuen room at this hotel for a Christmas present for daughter and son-in-law. Upon arrival they were treated rudely and not given the room that had been reserved. Instead given a standard room with 2 double beds. Later that night they discovered that the heater did not work and when asked for extra blankets or room change were...

When we were deciding on a budget hotel in Union Sq, we were not expecting what we stumbled across.
This hotel is an absolute hidden gem! The rooms were clean and well furnished with complimentary in-room WiFi/Ethernet. The amenities were excellent as well including all the basics i.e. bar fridge, iron & ironing board, cable tv, bath/shower combo. The staff...

This hotel has a perfect location in the city, however the rooms didn't quite look the same as online. They were smaller, with a VERY small elevator. It served the purpose, and our stay was great, just wasn't quite what we expected. The front desk service was so/so. We got there during shift change, and they couldn't check us in...

I chose this hotel due to its convenient location to Union Square, for Christmas shopping. The hotel had character and a great valet parking rate ($27). The beds were comfortable except for the flannel sheets, which I didn't care for as they were a bit pilled. I had read from other posts that I should ask for a room away...

I agree with the comment of a reviewer before me that this is not really a boutique hotel - that doesn't mean it's bad, just a false description. They have tried to make it quirky with the Mark Twain references (e.g. quotations inscribed on the windows in the stairwell) but other than that it's your average hotel, albeit an individual...

My hubby and I enjoyed our stay here. It was clean, conveniently located and the staff was AMAZING... every front desk person (especially Kamul!) was polite, helpful, friendly and very accommodating. From the moment we checked in... we didn't like the first room we were given. They promptly and happily gave us a couple more options and wanted to ensure...

Do not get me wrong, Mark Twain is a nice place. And that's about it. Claiming it is "boutique" or "stylish" is clearly misleading.
As I stayed in this hotel during the WWDC11, when five-thousand-something crowd of Apple developers invade San Francisco, it is hard to fault the hotel for its pricing scheme, simply driven by the supply and demand....
