Stayed a couple of nights. Room is very basic. A bit smelly, but I got quickly used to it. Room had a good view. The bed made a squeaky noise. However, it was overall okay. There is an ice machine at the lobby with a microwave, a coffee machine, and hot water available 24 hrs. Hotel provides pastry as breakfast. Not really great but okay. Location is a great asset, just a few minutes to Union Sq. The biggest issue for us was the choppy wifi, which was not reliable at all. Perhaps because our rm was at the corner, but I don't think that the network can be useful for serious business. Considering the value in SF, I would go back.

The hotel was fine, it does exactly what it says on the tin, close to Union Square and Bart station ( if you are coming from abroad download the Clipper card save$3 per head) The room had Iron board and Iron hair dryer safe . There is free pastries, tea and coffee available every morning. There is also a computer and printer if you need to print of boarding passes. There is a microwave oven for public use . Staff were very friendly, wifi was OK,daily room service. I would have preferred a fridge in the room, but it wasn't a big issue. There is a water and ice machine in the foyer

This is a reasonable priced hotel but incredibly old fashioned. I did know it was dated but not this dated. First room in had, had a large hatch in bathroom like something from a horror film. No lock on it and you could open it and see above and below like in films. This should be sealed as creepy. The WiFi in room was terrible and reception moved me as said thensignal bad in that room. The second room was stuffy and stopped me sleeping well as the ceiling fan was faulty which i did flag with reception. The bed was SO old and did not feel comfortable or stable. I know this hotel was cheaper and for some it may be fine, but for me it was not great. The staff at reception are very friendly and I do appreciate the free pastry and coffee. If i returned to the city om afraid I would not stay here. Some love this hotel. I love charm but it does need an update to furniture and other things.

Great budget hotel in a perfect location, the decor is a bit dated, but other than that everything is fine. Free pastries, coffee and tea every morning, and a water and ice machine available all day .

Very nice boutique hotel in a great location and with friendly and helpful staff. I am visiting San Francisco quite often and I feel I found a great hotel to stay which is clean comfortable and quite. Disliked · A tiring stiff walking from Bart Powell station to the hotel when you carry a suitcase

Great location (felt safe even late at night) and price which even included free pastries for breakfast. We arrived very late (after midnight) due to our flights being delayed but there was someone on reception when we arrived and allowed us into our room. Rooms are basic/dated but as per images on the website so no surprise. I would recommend buying public transport tickets online as it was half the price rather then to go to the local chemist.

We stayed for 3 nights and we picked this hotel for the price and location - it was just what we needed. There’s nothing fancy about the hotel but it was comfortable, clean, spacious and accessible to everything we wanted to visit. We got the airport Bart train to Powell station and it’s only a 10 min (uphill) walk from there and it’s also close to tram stops. We walked pretty much everywhere from our hotel very easily. It’s also very safe at night. Staff were friendly enough but didn’t really need help with anything apart from a toilet issue, which was fixed. We appreciated the morning pastries and coffee, which was all complimentary. There was a wide selection and no limits. It was enough to keep us going until lunch. No other hotel for this price offered this. Room itself had everything we needed including soap, shower gel and shampoo. I would stay again if visiting San Francisco.

Absolutely brilliant. I had a 4 night stay at The Grant & it was excellent. Great staff, hot drinks & water available 24/7 & in the morning there were fresh pastries available for free. The room was large & the bed was comfortable. I found the hotel easy to find after getting the Bart from the airport to Powell Street station.

We booked this as a base to explore San Francisco. We wanted something relatively cheap, clean but in a good location and it ticks all those boxes. You get complimentary pastries and tea/coffee each morning which is a lovely touch and the selection of pastries is much better than expected. The rooms aren’t anything fancy but it’s clean and the beds are comfortable. You can get the BART from the airport to Powel street station and then it’s only a 10 minute walk to the hotel which is ideal (steep streets with suitcases is the only struggle). Fisherman’s wharf is about a 35/40 minute walk and we walked to Lombard street in about 20 minutes. Lots of restaurants within walking distance and it’s right by union square for shopping. Overall we were really pleased with our stay.

Stayed for four nights at the end of April. Check in was quick and simple. Room on the fourth floor was clean and comfortable only issue was view from window (there wasn’t one) didn’t spoil the stay as we only slept in room. Towels changed everyday maid service spot on. Coffe and tea 24 hours and a choice of pastries in the morning. Five minute walk to Public transport. A good base for discovering San Francisco.
