I've spent much time at this hostel and I can assure anybody who's looking for a cheap place to stay in San Francisco that this hostel is probably the best choice. The Pacific Tradewinds is a good hostel located in an excellent central location in San Francisco. I love visiting this city, but one thing it does not have is a great range of hostels. The Tradewinds is a good choice, and I would rank it along The Green Tortoise as your best bets (although the two offer very different experiences!!).... more

Of all the hostels I've stayed in, Pacific Tradewinds is definitely one of the best. It's so very friendly - the staff really go out of their way to make you feel welcome. It's small, but that just means it's cosy - and in the evenings travellers (and staff) mix in the lounge area and actually talk, which doesn't happen... more
