While, yes, I had to take the stairs once during my stay due to elevator maintenance and while, yes, there was plastic on the floor where there was construction taking place, these things did not in anyway detract from my enjoyable stay. The room was small, but I had everything I needed: internet access, decent television, a clean space, a... More

For Stairmaster enthusiasts, this hotel is just the place. The single elevator simply needs a nice place to retire in dignity; it rarely makes it to the 8th floor. And my room the first night was right on the street, where a busy bus route competes with pre-dawn garbage trucks for noise. The continental breakfast is classy - the one... More

We stayed for a wedding at the Mystic. The hotel is old but quite well appointed in each room. The bed was very comfy and the amenities were good for downtown with breakfast every morning. The bar was crowded and noisy, but fun. The biggest downside for us was the noise that occurs in downtown hotels ... trash trucks at... More

Mystic hotel is both memorable and fabulous is several ways! From the moment your cab pulls up , the Mystic hotel overhang pops with class and excitement. Once you walk it you're greeted with the most clean and delightful smell of what I can only imagine are french flowers. On the walls are modern, simple art. As you walk up... More

The rooms are small, but decently decorated. Biggest problem is noise and lousy service. I asked for the quietest room in the hotel and where did they put me? Right across the hall from the door where the construction team enters and leaves! There couldn't be a louder spot. When I called the manager about it, she said "Well, all... More

I paid $269 a night + tax and received the service of a poor hostel. I arrived at 9pm at night with a 9 year old child. There was one (very rude) woman working in the hotel and it took her 1 1/2 hrs to sort out the credit card payment (and the $150 which she debited for a 1... More

- New renovated boutique hotel of an old building - Good location (just 5 blocks away from BART station), most of the happenings within walking distance. - Helpful Staff (Angel was very helpful when we were there) - spacious room (we had the junior suite) - value for money - quiet at night but noisy in the morning when we... room was never cleaned in 8 days, bar/restaurant was awful (good for wannabees) don't go there for eating/drinking!, noisy jazzy music coming from the bar until 1am-2am. However, location was great and staff was reasonably friendly as well.

My husband and I stayed here for 5 nights. It was in a great location. There was something to do no matter which direction you turned. You can't beat the price for being in the center of the city, free breakfast, and wifi. I would highly recommend for a quick weekend in the city or even a business trip, it... More

We really liked staying here. The room was very small but for the location, price and small amount of time we spent in the room- it was wonderful. We loved that the building was very old, we had exposed brick, a very comfy bed and pillows and a fridge. Plenty. Plus it was a nice clean room. Close to China... More

Mystic Hotel Union Square San Francisco by Charlie Palmer is a smart, sleek retreat situated in the heart of the city's busiest neighborhoods. Conveniently located just one block from the iconic cable car line in the middle of three key destinations – Union Square, Chinatown and the Financial District — Mystic Hotel offers a convenient, comfortable and unique modern boutique hotel experience in a historic location. With a contemporary look and feel, our accommodations are designed to reflect the changing need of today's traveler. Enjoy high-touch service and an ideal Union Square location, perfect for travelers looking to experience all the adventures of San Francisco. Like a private club, enjoy handcrafted cocktails in the Burritt Room, the intimate film noir-inspired bar named for Burritt Alley, where detective Sam Spade's partner Miles Archer was gunned down in The Maltese Falcon. Then, step into the speakeasy vibe of renowned Chef Charlie Palmer’s adjoining Burritt Tavern, where walled-in and curtained booths create dark corners for private conversations and Executive Chef Ashley Weaver turns out classic food like steaks and chops done right. Weaver also takes advantage of Bay area's tremendous green markets as well as the extraordinary offerings from local food artisans in menus built around prized regional specialties from Dungeness crab to West Coast oysters. That's what we like about San Francisco: it's up to the minute and still in the moment. ... more   less
