I absolutely love this wonderful old hotel. From the violin-playing monkeys on the walls of the elevator to the lion feet holding up the bathtub, all the details are charming and wonderful. It is an older property which is what I think gives it it's charm, but it does have all the modern conveniences including plasma screen TVs. The bedding... More

Perhaps I am nostalgic, but I adore European-style boutique hotels. The rooms are beautifully appointed and the clawfoot tubs are particularly charming. I have stayed in the smaller rooms and the suites, on my own and with partners. Some make you feel like royalty. The beds have always been comfortable and, except for the street noise, have lent themselves to... More

We stayed one night at the Hotel Majestic while attending an event just two blocks away at the Regency Ballroom. I chose this hotel after reading reviews here on Trip Advisor. I have to say, I was a bit cautious after reading reviews here. Overall they were positive, but the one star "OMG don't stay here" sorts always make me... More

This is an excellent hotel for a fair price. It is located very close to everything, walkind distance to downtown/Union Square and Fisherman's Wharf, and not far from anything on the other side of the city either. Bus lines within 2 blocks can take you pretty much anywhere you need to go. The hotel is historic yet beautifully preserved. I... More

I read a bunch of review online about this place and they were pretty much dead on. It's a good location, just off of Van Ness and convenient to a lot of areas. It's nice inside. The room, at first appearance was really great. But then, after an hour, I saw and experienced its flaws. None of them were catastrophic... More

This hotel feels very European. It has a lot of charm and feels quaint. But you should only stay here if you like old-style , well-preserved hotels and rooms and appreciate that style. It has plenty of charm and the rates were very reasonably. I´d definitely stay at the Majestic again. More

Beautiful room. Walking distance to excellent restaurants. Bring your ear plugs though. Lots of traffic noise and sirens. Paid $20 for parking. Mights stay there again. More

I'm late to review this - we stayed 7/10/11 to 7/13/11. I had never been to San Francisco, but my fiance had been. We picked this hotel based on a recommendation from a friend who lives down the street. She had family that stayed there in the past that used a friends and family discount. So when I called I... I stayed here once and would stay here again given a good deal. The rooms are fun and decorated to the period as much as they can be. Hotel staff is very helpful and fun and willing to accomodate you in any way they can. It is close to Japantown which was so much fun and there is a little... More

Liar, liar - right from the start. My husband & I were attending a family reunion in Berkeley & decided we'd like to stay over at an affordable victorian in the City rather than drive the 90 minutes back to our home in Santa Rosa. We booked three weeks in advance through a reputable online service, & received reservation confirmation... More
