Bayfield is a great little town on the south shore of Lake Superior with fun local businesses. No Walmart, Target, etc.. The Rittenhouse is on the hill overlooking the lake with a wonderfully positioned swing that offers a great view. Go to their website for virtual tours of the rooms. The restaurant is very good, and there are other very... More

We started going to the Old Rittenhouse on a nearly annual basis about 30 years ago. We would pick a weekend either one week before or after the famous Bayfield Applefest when the population of about 800 soars to 30,000. The Rittenhouse is with out a doubt the best B&B we've ever been too. It and another old Victorian Mansion,... More

We had our honeymoon here and it was absolutely wonderful. My folks had stayed here years before, so we had high expectations and they were fulfilled. We were treated like family, and the food and accomodations left nothing to be desired. Add in a beautiful and cool lake and town and you have a destination that must go on your... More

There is something about the Old Rittenhouse Inn that is beyond description. I could go on endlessly about the beautiful Bayfield setting, the fantastic "curb appeal" of the inn, the fabulously decorated rooms, the wonderful staff, the incredible food... but there is something that I can't put into words, and that is the feeling- the atmosphere- of the entire experience.... We had dined here over the years when visiting Bayfield by Sailboat. We had always wanted to stay here and finally did so this fall. We loved our stay. The room was comfortable, the service excellent and we had a great view of the Apple Festival events and the lake. In the evening, several sailing friends joined us for drinks... More

We (my wife and I) have stayed at the Old Rittenhouse Inn before and I am certain we will be back. We rented the Moroccan Suite (room 12) for a one-night mid-week get-away. The room is very spacious and beautifully decorated with rich colors and several comfortable spots to curl up with books and champagne. It has a very nice... More

Two-night stay, Sept. 28-29, 2011. Although all staff from housekeeping to meal servers were very personable and accommodating, Gerald (registration desk) was most helpful and seemed genuinely interested in ensuring that we had an enjoyable stay in Bayfield even though our Apostle Island Cruise was cancelled both days due to rough water. We stayed in room #2 at the Rittenhouse... More

My wife and I stayed here last year and we loved the place. The rates are high but it is worth it if you want the extra service. We would stay there again and the food was great! More

Arrived for the Sunday Apple Festival Parade. Were seated in comfortable chairs on the sunny front porch for excellent parade viewing and porch service was available for food and libations. Service is the Inn's strong point. On Tue, after most tourists left and no "kitchen technicians" available, Jim provided an excellent response to our request for a late afternoon porch... More

We stayed at the Rittenhouse Inn during Bayfield's Apple Festival. Be aware that the room rates are higher during that weekend. We stayed in the Morroccan Suite, though it was comfortable and clean it was overpriced compared to other B&B's that are comparable. The room was on the third floor and not for someone who doesn't like to climb steps.... More
