We decided on our returm from visiting our daughter at college in Marquette, MI to take a side trip to Bayfield. We have had such a busy summer and wanted to take advantage of an extra day away from our business and what a wonderful decision it was! The Rittenhouse is a true gem in more ways than one, with... more

The Inn remaIns charming and reasonably priced. The only dissappointment on this visit was a sub-standard dinner -- a poorly prepared entree and a sense of being rushed through courses in a half filled dining room . more

We travelled to Bayfield, WI in late June from southern WI. A beautiful drive. Lots of lakes and trees. Bayfield sits on a big hill. We didn't know that until arriving, but it worked to our advantage because our B&B, Old Rittenhouse Inn (ORI), sat near the top of the hill and gave a beautiful view of the lake and... more

While this was definitely the place to stay during Apple Fest, the houses could use some updating. We stayed at le Chateau and while it was cozy and cute, the walls could use some fresh paint. Also, the second night we stayed, I counted 5 huge flies in our room. Not very happy about that. Not to mention the old... more

Overall the stay was very nice, we stayed in room VI in the main house. One of our nights was a gift so we only had to "pay" for one night. We arrived late on the first night and thankfully called ahead since there are no staff on the premises after about 10:00 pm and we didn't arrive until after... more

Shower was very small and no light. Had to shower with the curtain open to get minimal light. Shower pressure consisted of a dribble with the shower head mounted very low. I'm just 5'10 and the shower head came out of the wall at chest level. I had to squat down to wash my hair and get my shoulders wet.... more

There is no urine smell in any of our rooms or carpets. We do not allow pets at the inn, and our excellent housekeeping staff is well trained to spot any problems of this nature. We also don't have any showerheads at the 5' level. Maybe this reviewer has mistaken us with another local B&B? Each year during the off-season,...

We had a room reserved for the weekend of 7/224 and 25 for our kayaking trip. Our close friend’s son was killed in Iraq serving his County and the visitation and funeral was scheduled for those 2 days. We called the Rittenhouse to explain the situation and requested we move our reservation to the next available weekend. The man we... more

The Rittenhouse Inn's ownership and management have the utmost sympathy for the families of U.S. solders killed in action, and we wholeheartedly support our troops and their families. The statements in this review were made with very little knowledge about the Rittenhouse Inn and the extended family that lives and works here. The reviewer knows nothing of our family members,...

Bayfield and the Apostle Islands are destinations in themselves; however the Old Rittenhouse Inn is the main reason I would return. We had Room 3, which was a cozy queen room with a view and a working fireplace. After looking around, on my next trip I would select Room 4! All rooms are unique and you couldn't go wrong with... more

We visited Bayfield over the 4th of July weekend. The Inn is very nice, with a friendly staff and a perfect location. Our room, # 4, was large, with a great view, a very comfortable king bed and fireplace. It must pointed out room 4 is located directly over the air conditioning system for the entire building, which never shut... more

I tried posting before, but something happened with the internet so hopefully this isnt a duplicate. The Rittenhouse in was an incredible place to stay and relax while enjoying the beauty of the Superior/Apostle Island scenery. We stayed at the BB for our 1 year anni. and the staff was beyond accomodating. I called ahead of time to request a... more
