I stayed in the Blake House earlier this year, and had a wonderful time. I was very pleased with the look of the home, and found managment to be not only friendly, but very helpful. I liked that I was given a tour of the house once we arrived, and if you listened to the directions and information you could... more

In an area where almost EVERYONE is very gracious and welcoming, we were VERY disappointed in what could and should have been a lovely B & B stay. The "bed" part was acceptable as we were in the "Holly Room" (apparently the former owner's suite?). Whilst far from a Southern Living showcase, I would disagree with other reviewers calling the... more

As a single Innkeeper, I try to allow guests to help themselves as much as possible so that they don't have to rely on finding me when they want something. I find that many people prefer to take care of themselves as long as you show them where to find everything. We have available to all guests a Breakfast Room...

I stayed in the mid-range magnolia room. It was clear within minutes of arrival that the bed & mattress were unacceptable. Imagine a bed that you woudn't be able to give away, think old 100$ mattress. Bed moved 3 inches back and forth if you moved. Holes in the (advertised modern) bathroom. Think motel six 20 years ago. We immediately... more

I can appreciate when a guest does not like a room or a feature about a room; however, professionalism and tact are always warranted when dealing with someone's property or when speaking to them. I do get my feelings hurt when someone is especially nasty or critical of the work that I put into keeping up a 160 year-old house....

A girlfriend of mine and I opted to go to this B&B for a girls weekend since my husband is in a wheelchair and he was unable to go. The pictures on their website do it NO justice!! The property is beautiful, the breakfast was yummy and the rooms are SO lovely and cozy! Leslie, the innkeeper, is SO nice.... more

Do not stay at the Blake House Inn. We stayed in the Adela room. Leslie turned on the AC when got there at 4:30. The room was 81 degrees. When went to bed at 11 pm the room at 79 degrees. The bed was worse then ones I have stayed at is Russia. The next day we left the AC... more

The guests are absolutely correct about the a/c at that time. We were having excessively hot weather (90s and 100s) and my poor a/c system was working very hard to keep up. We had it serviced and added a larger pipe for the air and that helped. The Azalea Room also bears the brunt of the sun so that room...

I was very disappointed in the hospitality at the Blake House Inn. The innkeeper was very unfriendly and was not welcoming at all. One morning she served the guests breakfast and didn't say a word to us. Not even a "Good Morning!" The house decor is very tacky and it is evident that the house is in need of many... more

Being from North Carolina, we expected a bed and breakfast in Asheville to be full of Southern Charm. The B&B is owned by a single lady and it definately shows. The home is in need of many repairs. At first look, being May, I would have expected there to be flowers planted even though we are in a dry period... more

Just dropping a line to recommend Leslie and her lovely inn to all those headed to Asheville. She was the perfect hostess, making us feel welcome & offering all the amenities of a hotel w/so much more character & charm. The Holly Room, we learned, has been re-done since Leslie acquired the inn just over a year ago, & it... more

Getting a room in Asheville any weekend in the fall is SO hard, I was not expecting much from literally the last room available anywhere near the city. Wrong. Blake House is cheaper than a lot of competitors, does not require a 3 night stay, and is well worth it. It has all the basics like private baths and TV,... more

Because I'm not the kind of person who minds a little bit of driving (I mean you probably go to Asheville expecting to do a lot of driving anyway), Blake House is perfect. It's mid-way between downtown Asheville and Hendersonville, not surrounded by competing B&Bs so there's a bit of property to enjoy. My architectural preference includes stone anyway so... more
