We had been driving all day from New York and finally arrived in Asheville for a Wine conference when we happened upon the Mountaineer Inn. The hotel manager was super friendly and greeted us with the kind of mountain hospitality you just cant find these days. After selecting a deluxe unit room we were pleasantly surprised at the great location... more

I woke up at 2am with a roach crawling up my leg!!!!! I was so grossed out i stayed awake the rest of the night with all the lights on. I unpacked my luggage in my driveway hoping none got in. Not that matters after the roach but the rooms were dirty, outdated, the toilet ran on and off constantly.... more

Perverts and filth. plans changed at the last minute and we had to find somewhere to stay. So we pulled into what looked like a nice hotel in a great location. The little man behind the counter, was very touchy feely, and not in a good way. He showed me a room and it was nice. Very rustic and charming.... more

I really enjoyed my recent stay at "The Mountaineer". It was a very home-like experience from the get-go. The family and workers are very unique and all very friendly. Even though the room wasn't in tip-top shape, I never saw one bug or any other pest. The decorations were charming, and from a time that has past. I was amused... more

I love the charm and ambience of the Mountaineer. If you love Americana charm and great service at the best room value in Asheville, stay at the Mountaineer. If you prefer more luxury and must have modern decor and extensive amenities, you may want to look for a more expensive hotel. I love the charm of the Mountaineer, and I... more

I visited Asheville, NC over Labor Day weekend and found it to be a great town but overpriced. Fortunately, the Mountaineer Inn was more than than adequate and was priced right for the budget traveler like myself. I didn't expect to stay in the hotel much any way as I was there to see the sights of Asheville but the... more

I recently stayed at The Mountaineer Inn in Asheville NC with my husband I , and enjoyed it. It is an older property with a certain old fashion charm. We chose the rustic style rooms which were clean and cozy. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rates were beyond reasonable since all of the chains were charging double and... more

As Asheville goes, the Mountaineer is in a great location and has very reasonable rates. However, the rooms come in two choices: old and older (the "deluxe units" look like they were built 25 or 30 years ago, and none of them have been maintained to the standards of a chain). I wouldn't call the deluxe units spic and span,... more

I do a lot of budget travelling, but this was the worst place I have ever stayed in! The furniture was old and the place was not kept up. The rooms were not clean and I had a view of the things that they dumped out my window. We had to run the shower for 20 minutes to get hot... more
