Not sure what the deal is but there are certainly some people who stay that are not there for a hostel visit. Saw somewhere else that someone claimed it serves as a battered women's shelter which after staying, I may believe. So that portion could make some slightly uncomfortable. I enjoyed my stay at 40 Berkley, the room was comfortable, the free breakfast was delicious and the portions were plentiful. The residence was in the center of all the best cites we wanted to see. Everything was kept very clean and the showers were clean, spacious and well maintainied. I especially enjpoyed the professional staff. More

for a little extra, you can get a hotel. As a business traveler I would recommend paying the extra for a hotel because, the internet access was poor/not working, no phone in room (or wake up call), no tv or bathroom in room, and the room made strange banging sounds all night.
