I used to travel for school every Monday and stayed at 40 Berkely.Great place, great price, nice and clean .I had stayed before in different hostels around Boston, but this is the best one. They value their customers, especially frequent visitors.Great customer service:Jason and team : keep up the good work

This was my first experience in an American hostel, as the others have been in other countries. I must say that 40 Berkeley was worth the few extra dollars I had to put in to book on site after the less expensive online rooms were taken. It is conveniently located near the airport, luxurious shopping, two lovely parks and a... More

In this day and age where hotel prices have skyrocketed, 40 Berkley is a real treasure! Okay, the room is sparse, but the mattress was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was immaculate, the staff was helpful and friendly and the breakfast was sensational. Its location was pretty good, too. The "T" was only a short walk from the hostel. I... More

This was my first experience in a hostel. The front desk was friendly enough. I stayed in a single room which was fairly spartan yet clean: a bed, a desk, a drawer, a ceiling fan, a large desk fan and a wardrobe closet. No air conditioning, so this may not be a good place to be during the height of... More

I went to Boston to follow a 2-week course at MIT and, having been convinced by the very positive revues, decided to give 40 Berkley a go. I am very happy with my choice and would definitely recommend it to everyone. The staff is professional and welcoming, the rooms are clean and well tended, the location is great to visit... More

We stayed in a private room as my friend I was travelling with is new to hostels. It is on the outskirts but easy to walk to and from any major spots. The staff were extremely helpful (even with our 4am check out). It has nice facilities but no air con which may be an issue in summer.

I have stayed in very basic and hostel-like places before, but not for 135$ for a double room. But then apparently that is Boston. The room is very gloomy, two beds and a wardrobe (furniture looks very very old). Very thin walls, so you hear everything! Bathroom and shower are on the floor, at least the girls' one was clean... I sought a place to stay while taking part in activities in Boston. I was pleased to locate a place under $100 a day. The facility is near the Back Bay station for trains and subways. This is an upscale neighborhood. I felt relatively safe to walk the environs at night although the streets are not well lit. The facility... More

Arriving here from the UK in order to run the 2013 Boston Marathon (yes that one) I really didn't know what to expect as the reviews on trip advisor ranged from 'fantastic' to 'diabolical'. In reality it is a cheap and cheerful place to stay and pretty central to all that's going on in Boston. The public facilities on the... More
