As one of the earlier reviews states they have recently refurbished this place, out with the victoriana and in with the modern minimalist sytle. Okay if that's your thing however at time of booking (Feb 09) we were not told and our original aim was to not stay anywhere that looked like 'any hotel' and yet that's exactly what we... more

My husband and I wanted to stay in a reasonably priced hotel that was close to major attractions in Boston. The Newbury Guest House fit the bill perfectly and was an amazing value. The hotel is located in the heart of Newbury Street's shops and restaurants and is within easy walking distance to two T-Stops. The room was clean and... more

I was attending a conference in Boston at the convention center located in Back Bay, and my colleague and I found this B & B had prices far lower than the big impersonal hotels the convention was recommending, and this place was just a block away from the convention center itself. It was nice that a warm breakfast was included... more

The rooms are very nice and they were in the process of updating them. Even under construction, the noise was low. They were very clean with a nice bathroom. They have new flat screen TVs on the wall. My room was supposed to be a queen size but I am sure that the bed was king size. The staff were... more

What a disappointment! Rooms are nothing like the photos on the website. We were shown a room overlooking Newbury Street, which we had requested. The room looked abandoned. No curtains, just venetian blinds. No pictures on the walls. Carpeting had been recently torn up, but the wood floor was not refinished. Bed was old and badly scratched. Furniture looked as... more

The Newbury is in a fantastic location and is good value for money but dont expect a quaint new england B&B experience. The rooms are functional but basic - no luxurious touches and the common areas are again functional. The breakfast was certainly decent and the staff were efficient and friendly. more

This guest house proved a really good choice. Very comfortable room with bay window and plenty of space. Self service breakfast more than adequate. Friendly and helpful staff. more

We chose the hotel as it is amazingly central, non-corporate and very well priced. We were not disappointed with the hotel, which was charming, and the staff, who were friendly and helpful. The room was extremely clean and comfortable, quiet (we were at the back) although decoratively somewhat tired, with evidence of a previous roof leak on the ceiling. We,... more

My wife and I spent 3 nights at the NGH in early November. The Newbury Guest House is located, as its name implies, right in the middle of Newbury Street. T stops are just a few blocks away, and restaurants and shops are literally just outside the door. In case you're wondering, the Guest House feels more like a hotel... more

We arrived at Boston after many hours of flight, and we got a wet welcome from the heavens. Doesn't really sound like a great start to a trip, but I must say, once the cab reached the Hotel area things started to look up. The near by streets are beautiful. Newbury Street itself is filled with small shops and some... more
