My husband and I were attending a surprise birthday party for a close friend. Due to various events, it was difficult to locate a vacant hotel. We stumbled upon the website for this B & B and decided to take a chance. Our room was beautiful. The roof top deck was quite enjoyable. The service exceeded our expectation. We actually... more

My husband and I saw this hotel on our last visit to Boston and decided to stay here on our latest trip. It is a gorgeous brown stone hotel in the heart of the most posh place in Boston. We stayed in a luxurious room with a queen size bed and television for 2 nights; for the reasonable price of... more

The website for this hotel clearly displays photos from the previous owners. None of the furniture depicted in the photos still remains in the building. The hotel barely resembles the advertised experience, and the experience to be had is something you would be well served to avoid. The owner of the hotel is an irrational and rude little man. Although... more

We spent an enjoyable week at the Newbury. The room was basic but clean with a big flat screen television on the wall. Unfortunately, there was no safe in the room, but just before we left we observed that safes were just being installed. Coffee and tea were always available in the reception area, with cardboard cups, so even the... more

Do not stay at this place! It is very noisy outside on the terrasse! It's impossible to sleep before 3 AM. There's no air conditionning during the night. The shower faucets are broken and stay in your hand when you finally turn them on. There is no breakfast served. No room service at all and no telephone to call. The... more

The owner of this hotel if pompous and rude. I needed to find just one night's lodging close to a conference because of a mix up with another hotel reservation. I knew it would be difficult, but the owner of this hotel was rude and condescending on the phone. I tried to call back later to talk with someone else... more

The hotel is very old, therefore, it will cannot be considered as other 5 star hotels like the Westin, which is behind it. It was very comfortable and clean. The owner and his son were very nice to us. The location was FANTASTIC and the contentinal breakfast was also great. I'd recommend this hotel to anyone who wishes to pay... more

Do not stay here. The place looks more like a dirty warehouse full of antiques than a hotel. The breakfast that was to be included with our stay was never available and the dinner reservations made were never honored, in fact there was no one in the kitchen, or no, there was no kitchen to begin with. The place should... more

We went to the Jewel of Newbury because all hotels were occupied. We met the owner who was very strange and a bit scary. His mood swinged within one minute! After a sightseeing in the hotel we didn't choose to stay here. It was worn out, a very scary owner and no other guests. He wouldn't let us go and... more
