If you are visiting Boston as a tourist you shouldn't spend much time in your hotel anyway, this is a basic hotel, in need of freshening up, but it is clean, quiet and in a nice area. A good variety of TV channels, a cheap booked cab to Logan ($17), free internet downstairs and patchy free Wifi (had to go... More

The Good - location, location, location. Close to everything downtown. The staff, very pleasant and helpful. The Bad Breakfast - an absolute disgrace. They hold be ashamed of it. The rooms, tired, grubby and worn. Thin walls. Banging doors, very noisy -take earplugs Bathroom, poor water pressure, poorly designed, almost impossible to shut the door unless you are actually standing... More

I stayed in that hotel for over a week. I choose it mainly because of the price, breakfast and free internet access. The hotel is located in the middle of Boston, right next to John Hancock tower 100 meters from the metro station. Hotel is really clean, but it doesn’t help when you compare to how worn everything is. You... More

I agree that it is older and "dated," but it is clean and hospitable. They were very accommodating about our needs - a rollaway (and then we changed our minds) and a need to store our luggage between checkout time and airplane departure time. I left my phone charger in the room, and they called to let me know they... More

Stayed for a week while looking for a place to live in the area. The hotel is older and I thought it added to the charm of the room - bed and breakfast type charm. Rooms are small and no refrigerator, but there are numerous choices for food within walking distance - a two block radius - including a grocery... More

While checking in we experienced a problem with the reservation. The unfortunate woman behind the counter who had to deal with this problem, Karen, was absolutely wonderful. She did what she could and she was very pleasant to deal with. My group met Karen far from the hotel and she even approached us and asked us how our vacation was... More

Good location, near to Back Bay station and Copley Square. Place is a little dated with some staff not as friendly as others. Rooms are good size though lacking a bar fridge. Would stay again. Breakfast wasn't fancy, with cereals, bagels and dessert foods like muffins and croissants for breakfast. There level 5 eating area is under used and could... More

This hotel is very well located. Just one block away from the subway and at walking distances from many places. Hotel is not renovated, so rooms are pretty old. The service was just OK. No efforts in being too kind. If you have other options in the area, take them.

The hotel itself was pretty bad, the shower was really old and the bottom looked like it hadn't been cleaned properly. There was water damage in our room and it was really cold at night. The pictures on their website seem to either be false advertising, or we got a really bad room! There were 2 good things about this... More

Not our first stay in this old Boston hotel, I can remember the John Hancock vividly. Not as glitzy as some, but the staff bends over backward to make you comfortable. The convenience to the Back Bay and the rest of the city are unmatched. The continental breakfast on the beautiful veranda is a great way to start the day.
