Our family loved this hotel in almost every way. The only drawback was that our SUV was a little too tall for the underground parking lot, but no matter, there was plenty of street parking which actually saved us $ and was easier for coming and going. This hotel is in a great location for visiting all of the sights... more

I highly recommend this hotel for your next stay in San Diego. My 7 year-old daughter and I travelled from Los Angeles for the weekend to attend the zoo. The hotel was clean, quiet and an excellent value. It also provided a full breakfast with lots of choices. Also, the location is great, just steps away from the fun in... more

Just got back from 2 nights at this location - can I say the comments on the rooms were not what we found - no mold - the hotel was sold out with a Harley Club but no issues with noise. The breakfast was the bomb - plenty of food and great quality too - they served eggs and bacon... more

This was a very nice hotel, we stayed for two nights. They had a very nice breakfast buffet, that included egg omelets, folded over with cheese. I would have appreciate a cheeseless one, as I am lactose intolerant. On Sunday morning, instead of omelets, they had what I called 'egg pablum' - they were suppose to be scrambled eggs, but... more

My husband and I traveled to San Diego for our Grandson's ollege graduation and luckly found the Holiday Inn Express in Old Town. From the free air port shuttle to our wonderful hot breakasts, service could not have been better. The clerks at the front desk were so accomodating and helpful to us both. I was particularily impressed by the... more

Friendly front desk. Spanish style. Nice bed. Room was in another building. Small rooms - even though I had a king bed. MOLD in tub. Gave me a headache. Make up on shower curtain -missed everyday. (And I don't use make up.) Smoke detector above the foot of bed so light was straight in eyes when lying down. Expensive to... more

We made reservations for three nights but left after one. For the price of $160, including taxes, fees, and $12 underground parking, here's what we got: First, we were given a dark smelly room [a dungeon] which was below street level on a busy tourist street where homeless and drunks were hanging around begging for money and urinating. We were... more

We stayed here recently for several days while vacationing in San Diego. We arrived late due to flight delays and were assured that our room would be ready whenever we arrived. We had booked a "King room with a balcony" and upon arrival we were given a room on the first floor that was below a ledge of some sort... more

We chose the HIE Old Town based on reviews in this and other sites and were not disappointed. The extra cost for a courtyard room was worth it. We were specifically looking for a hotel where we could leave our car during a cruise. The cost to park while away is $7 per day, in secure underground parking, much better... more
