I have never experienced such a horrible experience at any hotel. From the moment we got out of our cab our nightmare at The Ivy began. We were not greeted when getting out of the cab. Five employees including valet and security just starred at us while we tried to gather our luggage, they did not even offer to open... more

My husband and I stayed here recently for two nights, as part of our honeymoon tour of the USA. We had seen the website and photos of the rooms and thought it would be nice to treat ourselves and stay in a luxury hotel, Initially on booking the hotel over the phone from the UK we soon found that the... more

The good stuff: the hotel was very attractive, with a chic and urban design. Our 6th-floor room was well-appointed, with a comfy King bed, cool mirror-backed bar, a nice work area (with MP3 dock/good speakers), a hip bathroom (lots of glass and tile). The rooftop bar/lounge area was nice, with a good view of downtown. The location was great, central/walking... more

This hotel is top notch. I have stayed at several surround hotels in the SD gaslamp district and I really like the Ivy because 1. location - close to good/excellent food establishments, shopping, 24hour fitness, etc. 2. great roof deck bar on top - crazy busy on Thursday/weekend nights. 3. Room is always clean and 4. bed is comfortable -... more

Here on a business trip. Brutal noise from the rooftop club the hotel hosts. I literally could not turn my TV up high enough to cover the ambient noise, and I am on floor 3 of the 6 story hotel. If you are here to get a room and party up top, go for it. If you are here for... more

Small rooms, not very private bathrooms because of clear glass walls. Music from lounge way to noisy. Great food, and good over all hotel service. more

So we ordered room service as we had to be in the room for a conference call all morning. First they lost our room service order then the kitchen was backed up. The order was places over 90 minuets ago and is still not here. The hotel is a little over priced so you would expect a far better service... more

I went to the Ivy with my husband the night before seeing the Lion King in downtown San Deigo. The entire experience was great. The area was great, with plenty to do within walking distance. We walked to see live music, eat a delicious, yet inexpensive sushi dinner and the best part was that the nightlife lounge was directly in... more

The Ivy seems to be a great hotel when you first arrive and check the place out but looks can be deceiving. The staff is rude, everything in the hotel is EXTREMELY overpriced. I had a margarita on the rooftop when i first arrived and it cost me $16 and was about 6oz. A 4oz diet soda in the room... more

After reading some of the negative reviews, I was considering changing our reservation at the last minute. I'm so glad that I didn't. My husband and I are 38 and 37 years old, and while many of the guests were younger, we did not feel out of place. The hotel was chic, sexy and trendy, just as it looks on... more
