I had a great time at Lucky D's. It is very affordable and very clean.The hostel is in a great location and easy walking distance to most places. If you are a light sleeper ask for a higher floor as the second is noisy with the common room and reception here. Also be aware the marines come and stay here... more
Staff is pretty nice with no attitude. They are big on security, and the hostel has a large lounge, large kitchen, cheap laundry, free breakfast, and dinner 3 times a week. I enjoyed every minute of a 6 night stay at Lucky D's in September. The staff was absolutely delightful ; they were so helpful & pleasant. I stayed here for the weekend chilling out with my son. The staff were super helpful and the room I stayed in was great. They serve free food 3 times a week which helped out budget. Lucky D's is a great hostel where you get your money's worth! Free internet on the hostels computers (there are six of them), free phone calls within the US and Canada, free breakfast and sometimes free dinner! Loved the staff, loved the people and even loved the room. Location is perfect for enjoying everything downtown San Diego has to offer. This was my first time in a hostel and thanks to Lucky D's I will be looking up hostels anytime I travel now. I can only hope they come close to my experience with Lucky D's. more
