We stayed at the Carmel Mountain Ranch Residence Inn (Rancho Bernardo area of San Diego) for two weeks while moving back to the US from Japan. We have a very lovable 130 lb. Great Dane and had a hard time finding a hotel that would allow a dog that size. Residence Inns allow dogs and don't have a weight limit.... more

Personally, I prefer the older style Residence Inn. For business I typically stay at Marriott properties. This location while newer and nice,I could hear conversations and the person snoring in the room next to me. Maybe I just don't like this style of Residence Inn. I am so sorry we were only able to stay 3 days. The location was perfect for us, the room was spotless, quiet, spacious and far exceeded our expectations. The price was great, too. There are apparently 2 Residence Inns in Rancho Bernardo. This review applies to the Carmel Mountain Ranch location. Spacious suite/apartment-style layout with full kitchen. Excellent breakfast bar with waffles. Stayed on a weekend, so didn’t partake in the free weeknight “light dinner” and cocktail hour.
