We stayed two nights over the 4th of July holiday weekend at this hotel. One of the shortcomings of this property was obvious when we pulled up to the curb to check in – the valet parking situation is lousy for this grade of hotel. The interior driveway is closed and since the crew was not prepared for the rush... more

The hotel itself is impeccable. Stylish, but not kitchy, opulent but still descreet. Everything about good service and perfect location is true. The room, although may not have been the largest I have seen, was certainly the most pleasant I've stayed in. Design, style, amenities, little touches here and there, it was perfect. I do have a few grudges against... more

A colleague and I stayed at the US Grant during a conference in May. I convinced my company to put us up there when I realized the deal through my Starwood Preferred membership was better than what we would have gotten at the Marriott on the harbor. I am such a fan, usually, of Starwood resorts and the photos of... more

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The US Grant. I HIGHLY recommend spending at least one night in this magnificent historic landmark. We were greeted upon arrival by a valet attendant, a bellman and a very nice lady--a manager possibly. They immediately removed items from my hands (i.e. water bottles, papers) that I intended to discard. Our... more

We stayed one night at this hotel with our 2 children. It was very nice and clean. The beds were very comfy. The rooms are not huge but they are perfect for 2 people!!! Well decorated. The best part of this hotel is were it is located. You can walk anywhere you need to go. Valet is pricey just like... more

I booked over 20 rooms at this hotel for my staff and the entire staff loved the hotel with the exception of one employee. I was given an upgrade to a Jr suite and my room was amazing. The room had a small area in the front for coffee and it opened into a small living room. The living area... more

Wonderful, beautiful, hotel, centrally located within walking distance to the harbor, the Gas Lamp District, the ballpark and a short drive to Coronado Island. The service was very good but the hotel was off just a little in a number of areas. The valet and doormen were wonderful, the reception personnel professional but I"m not sure about the concierge who... more

Every Memorial Day weekend, my husband and I go to San Diego. If you want to experience excellent customer service, stay at the US Grant. The hotel is impeccable. The bed was very comfortable, the bathroom spacious. The location is fantastic. You can walk to the mall and to the many restaurants in the Gas Lamp District. The only drawback... more

First of all, the Grant is a beautiful, grand old hotel on a par with the Beverly Wilshire and the Peninsula in Los Angeles, and the Fairmont and Mark Hopkins in San Francisco. Service was excellent, as one should expect. Rooms were beautiful; bedding was top-drawer and fixtures were of the highest quality. The recent $50,000,000 renovation, however, had one... more

Our original plans were to stay at the Embassy Suites Downtown because it was fairly close to the Convention Center. There were problems with rates there, so I went to Expedia and Trip Advisor to find another hotel. I was really happy it worked out that way because the downtown location is so much better than the harbor area (very... more
