We did choose it because we did not want to stay in Mission Valley, as MV is cut through by an Interstate and all hotels/motels are facing the Interstate that always has heavy traffic. Noisy place (have been there twice before). Would never recommend staying in Mission Valley! This motel style BW (you park outside your room if you get... more

Dear Valued Guest, Thank you for your recent review. We appreciate the feedback we receive from all of our guests - the good and the bad. Though of course we prefer the good. We were disappointed to learn that you found our beds uncomfortable. It's very hard to get the beds just right in a hotel because everyone has their...

We stayed here from April 8-13th and I must say this was the perfect place for us. Please note - we had a rental car. Overall - If anyone is looking for a luxury, full service hotel, this is not it. But it is a beautiful motel with pristine rooms, great beds/pillows, clean bathrooms, superb water pressure and a nice... more

We chose this hotel based on its TripAdvisor reviews and we were not disappointed. We stayed here for five nights with our two young children and visited the zoo, Balboa Park, Sea World and Coronado during our stay. The hotel was near the zoo/Balboa Park and was a reasonable distance from Sea World and the beach. El Cajon Blvd has... more

I think I was expecting more than "just a motel" based on the rating that the Lamplighter got on this site so at first I was a little disappointed. But, that's my own fault for having high expectations for what it is - it's a motel!! When you pull up, you realize it's on a street with a few other... more

Dear Valued Guest, Thank you for your recent review about your stay with us. We are a 2 star hotel with many of the luxuries of a 3 star hotel, including an expanded continental breakfast, wireless internet service, heated pool, and lush landscaping. TripAdvisor measures only one thing, guest satisfaction. It is not a measure of luxury or location. It...

Nice hotel for the price. Had no problems whatsoever, and the manager was super-friendly. Breakfasts were nice and so was having wifi. There was lots to do in the general area, but you'll be driving everywhere except to maybe a couple shopping spots and bars within walking distance. more

I have to say the Lamplighter Inn is one of the nicest hotels that I have stayed at recently. The room was clean, spacious and seemed like most of the stuff in the room was new. The bed was very comfortable along with the pillows. I slept like a baby. The continental breakfast was great. Fresh hot waffles along with... more

I went to SD to visit family over the Thanksgiving holiday. I stayed on the ground floor at the Lamplighter - the room had a full kitchen which surprised me - stove, refrig, microwave plus pots, pans and dishes. The room was quiet, clean and comfortable -great pillows!! The front desk person Sarah was very helpful and had lots of... more

We stayed one night in room 118 at Best Western Lamplighter Inn in La Mesa for less than $100, all-in. We like BW because we know we'll always have wi-fi, and the Lamplighter Inn's was the strongest signal of all the hotels where we stayed. Check out was at 11. Hot air blower heating. Easy parking. Cars park in front... more
