I booked the Abingdon because of location and price (neither that great). My little room at the top of the stairs was literally like being sent to the garret. The "private bath" was one flight down the curving narrow staircase. So if you have to get up in the middle of the night, you have to feel your way down,... more

Read this before it joins all the other reviews that expressed bitter dissapointment at the rooms in this guest house. We stayed in the Sherwin room, which was grubby and well worn (my wife used harsher words to descibe it). The handbasin in the ensuite was loose as was the light switch in the bedroom. The pictures on the web... more

This looked better on the website than it actually was but what it lacked in luxuries and service it made up for in location. I loved where it was in Greenwich Village it was very 'sex and the city' it's a great neighbourhood and you get a feel for what it's like to live in New York City (if you... more

My daughter & I stayed in the Village (NYC) weekend last. (8/21 - 8/24) We made reservations on-line. When we arrived we were met by Robert who showed us our room! We were delighted.! The room was so very charming! We had a most fantastic stay here. Housekeeping was great & very thoughtful. Other guests were quiet. The house was... more

This was my second stay at the Abingdon Guest House. My first stay was in 2008 and I stayed in the Perin room (the smallest guest room) so this time I decided to splurge a bit and stayed in the Garden Room. I was the only traveler but the room was big enough for at least 3 people to sleep... more

My husband and I stayed here on our honeymoon for 10 days and it was perfect. Cozy, quiet, romantic. I don't recommend staying anywhere else! more

I was so excited for my stay at the Abingdon Guest House. The price was reasonable-ish for New York City, and the West Village is just about my favorite corner of planet Earth. I was enamored of the building's charming, character-rich atmosphere, but I slept all of about 2 hours over the 2 nights I was there because of how... more

I stayed one night and would happily have stayed longer. The location was great for Greenwich and West Villages and the Meatpacking District, although being right on 8th Ave was a disadvantage. I needed to check in at an unfeasibly early hour and, once I had succeeded in tracking him down (which involved getting the emergency number from the door of... more

My wife and I loved the Abingdon. We can't wait to return. The staff was friendly and helpful with some great restaurant suggestions. The Roxbury room was charming with brick walls, a fireplace, and period furniture. The room was quiet even though it faced the street. It was clean with a spacious all white bathroom. Of course the place is a... more

I have nothing good to say about Abingdon. Cramped, dingy little room with 25 W lightbulbs (that is a bit of an exaggeration). The wifi doesn't work on the 3rd floor and that staff apparertly was unaware of this. They don't even offer decent shower products, just some generic all-in-one "shower/shampoo" liquid and no body lotion. Not enough hangers. On... more
