We visited the Gem Hotel with 3 teenagers last St Patrick's day. we had booked a last minute deal and were slightly worried by previous reviews regarding 'soup kitchen' across street. We need not have worried, hotel was spotless, good sized beds, lovely towels and bathrobes. The only down side was the room size which were small but adequate as we only needed some where to sleep. Hotel doesnt serve breakfast but the Tick Tock diner just few blocks away is great. The area was safe enough to allow the kids-12/17/19 years old to go errands to 24/7 stores situated nearby. In hotel basement there is a microwave and vending machines selling drinks/snacks. Staff were really helpful and friendly- would use this hotel again.. and the so called soup kitchen' was closed so we saw no one else in the street! more
