Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great hotel, great location, lovely staff. Room was the largest hotel room we have stayed in so far in New York. Modern and clean. Great location, only a block or two from the subway. Front office staff were always friendly and we really enjoyed our stay.

I booked my stay on Choice points. The city was FULL this weekend and being a little off the beaten path was fantastic. The entire staff was beyond helpful....they know the meaning of customer service and hospitality. The rooms are "New York" sized..and space is well utilized. We switched rooms mid stay so had both a window room and a non-window room. I see people complain about that....but we loved the no window room....it was very quiet. Beds were super comfortable, linens and towels were nice. Coffee, tea, cocoa in the lobby 24 hours. I would absolutley stay here again!

The front desk staff is amazing! Answering all our questions about our stay in NYC. Love the art deco theme in the lobby, coffee and cream 24/7. The garden level room was exceptionally special because of the serene space it offered including a fridge with complimentary snacks, I will always choose the Blue Angel Hotel!

I stayed at the Blue Angel for 4 nights and loved it. It’s hiding away on 55th Street between Lexington and 3rd, super convenient for walking, bus, and subway. My room was small-ish with few luxuries but it was spotlessly clean, the bed and pillows were soooo comfortable and I heard no noise from adjacent rooms. Of course, since my room faced 55th Street there were Street noises but that’s to be expected. One of the best things about the Blue Angel is it’s staff. They were all so welcoming, friendly and very helpful. This is where I will stay whenever I’m in New York.

In writing reviews that are helpful to my fellow travelers, I try to take into account LOCATION, EXPECTATION, and VALUE. I cannot recommend the Blue Angel MORE highly for a stay. While the Blue Angel isnt as fancy as other hotels I've stayed at (its literally hidden on 55th Street), it still doesnt detract from a terrific experience--I wish I could have given a 4.5. LOCATION--Mid Town East, and hey since its NYC, you walk out the hotel door and you're "in the middle" of things. 55th Ave is in between 3rd Ave and Park Ave. The location is excellent. EXPECTATION--this is NYC, and its in Midtown, most hotel rooms are not going to be large. And the Blue Angel room (king size bed) was small but functional and enough space for my wife and myself. I actually expected the room to be SMALLER. The bathroom is small--the shower (no tub) was literally the size of a phone booth. But in general, the Blue Angel, while small (rooms and bathroom) is functional and comfortable. VALUE--we believe the value for the room size and amenities was reasonable to underpriced--for Midtown NYC. There were other hotels in the area that were more expensive (but since we didnt stay there we couldnt compare room size), but the Blue Angel was a terrific place to overnight esp given the price and the location. The ONLY real downside is the lack of a gym. The upsides (among others)--sodas and snacks in the room are complimentary, which Ive never seen before in a hotel. And the staff was very friendly and helpful, esp MARCOS--who has the late shift and was friendly and helped my wife with some complex instructions for another member of our party that Marcos handled with grace and efficiency.

Coming from the hospitality industry and someone who’s worked at hotels for years now this should be the most honest review. I have worked for many brands including choice. When we first walked in the Front office manager greg said “ooo, no are you guys underage” (we arent) but what kind of greeting? Didn’t know how to explain destination fees. was not accommodating and when my sister came in and asked for a bottle of water lady was SUPER rude. Last, the rooms are terrible. way too small and the showers are disgusting, i checked out the next day because of the lack of hospitality, accommodation and property itself. please take whatever rate you are paying for and put it towards a nicer hotel with nicer staff.

Hotel name a tribute to famous interracial nightclub of '40s and 50s once on that site. Immaculately clean and fresh. Thoughtfully appointed and equipped rooms incl. non-alcoholic and snack filled complimentary refrigerator filled daily. Decent Wi-Fi. Central A/C. Complimentary morning hot beverages in lobby. Gracious and accommodating staff. Super convenient excellent location: 55th between Lexington and Third Avenues. Very European in pragmatic ambience. Highly recommend.

I started calling this hotel 1st thing this morning (Friday 2nd), man answered the phone, he couldn't understand ANYTHING I was asking him, he rudely told me "we're sold out tonight.....you can go somewhere else...(not once BUT several times...", I asked for his name he told me Greg, to come to find out that's the managers name who is never there, in "meetings"ALL DAY! Per his staff. Then this rude man blatantly hangs up on me!!!! Can't get a callback from manager just to discuss the unprofessional of his staff! So it speaks volumes if manager doesn't care how his staff speaks to potential customers then clearly he doesn't care at all. This all started with an email from hotel @ 245AM. NOW OVER 12 HOURS later, NOTHING! So disappointing & disgusted with this whole day nightmare! FYI Choice privilege Elite members can ALWAYS get an early check in despite what female clerk is saying.
