We stayed for a long weekend in January. Overall, it was a pretty nice stay. The hotel deserves credit for not cheapening its services like so many other full-service properties. For example, housekeeping was daily (in fact, we asked for our room to be refreshed in the evenings, too, and this was done); room service breakfast was served on real dishware, etc., instead of takeout containers; and Andaz touches (water, etc.) continued. We were in a suite; it was spacious and stylish--the bathroom is particularly wonderful. However, the room also showed some signs of wear and tear that didn't read "luxury;" although I would still say the hotel is well-maintained overall, a renovation is a little past due. Service was uneven. The gentleman who checked us in was wonderful. However, other staff in the lobby were often cold--a definite "too cool for school" vibe or a distinctly more interested in their screens than guests. Water in the fitness center wasn't refilled consistently--I had to visit the lobby for it since the container didn't get refilled. And service in The Bar Downstairs was bad. We arrived around 40 minutes before closing time and the distinct vibe was annoyance, accentuated by staff turning all of the lights on as bright as possible 2 minutes before closing time as if to say "get out." Can't say I'd been to keen to patronize the bar again after that experience.

We stayed in suite 1212 for three nights. We were taken by surprise that the best service we had throughout our stay was experienced on our last day checking out. We were rushing to the front desk “cube” in the lobby to return our room keys and confirm our final receipt so that we could hop into anUber to catch our flight. However, there were no employees at the front desk cube, and there were 4 other guests standing around the cube waiting for assistance. It’s hard to imagine that at a lux hotel, they wouldn’t ensure that at least one person should remain at the front desk cube. To our surprise, a short Asian woman named Sherab from Tibet (perfect English) took the initiative to approach us and offered to help us with checking out. She didn’t appear to be officially part of the front desk staff - maybe part of the housekeeping staff. She took our keys and assured us that she would check us out and that our final receipt would be e-mailed to us. We saw that our Uber was arriving in 2 minutes and so we started to walk out the front door. Sherab approached us again in a humble manner and confirmed that she had done everything in the past 2 minutes. Amazing. Above and beyond. What a great example of initiative. Hope she receives significant recognition for this. Our housekeeping was also excellent. They also provided great lux service throughout our stay. Unfortunately, our guest experience when we first checked in was not that great mostly due to the poor layout and design of the entry lobby. Upon entering the front door of the hotel, the front desk consists of a white cube in the middle of the lobby with 4 guest elevators in the background. The lobby is too dark (even during the daytime). The front desk staff check guests in while standing in front of their computers on each side of the cube. This setup creates confusion for guests as they arrive. Which side of the cube should we check in on? When there are other couples standing around the cube waiting to check in (as was the case in our situation) who is next in line? Total chaos. Total confusion. Totally avoidable. The front desk person who checked us in was nice but still average for a lux hotel. What’s interesting and strange about this hotel is that the layout of our corner suite was a bit odd. The living room is connected to the bedroom via a small narrow hallway. And the large bathroom has these narrow width floor to ceiling panel doors which actually make entering the bathroom a bit awkward. The shower was actually too large. We enjoyed using the microwave, large fridge, and freezer which was a big plus. One of the bottom windows in our bedroom was still under repair. The gasket around the window appeared to be broken, and the temporary blue insulation tape was still in place in an effort to keep the cold air out. This should be fully repaired before having guests stay in the room. Otherwise during the winter time a cold draft would constantly disturb the person on the left side of the bed. It’s also very strange that housekeeping has their supply closet right off of the guest hallway which feels like a Hampton Inn. The Steak and Eggs breakfast in the basement restraunt was good. The service was average. On a scale of 1 (low) to 10 (high) Hotel location = 9 Front desk cube service = 7 Suite 1212 layout = 7 Lobby and Front Desk Cube layout = 3 Housekeeping = 9 Sherab who helped us with check out = 10

This hotel needs some TLC. Been staying here for years - back when it was new and fresh and had an A+ staff. There has been a lot of wear and tear on the place. Shades had holes in them, shower soap dish was filled with unwashed crud, and we had a major issue over parking; after being told by two separate people that parking was included for Globalist, the front desk refused to honor this. After lots of back and forth, many phone calls, and two days, she finally agreed we were right and decided not to charge us for parking. This has been our go-to NYC hotel for years, but after this stay we are on the search for someplace new. Too bad, because the location is perfect. Easily walkable to theater, the park, and Union Square.

Nice hotel in a good location. We were upgraded to a suite and had plenty of room to enjoy our stay. The room was very nice and had all of the amenities you would expect from a hotel at this level. I would stay here in the future.

The Andaz has an excellent location across from the library. Rooms are decent sized and the suites are really nice. I've stayed here a couple of times and have had great views of the libary. But above all, the service is really outstanding at this property. Every single staff member was super friendly, solicitous and helpful. Breakfast was great too.

I last stayed here in 2017 and the hotel continues to impress. Such a great large king room that feels pleasantly unlike most of the 120 sf boxes in midtown. Plenty of room for work and massive awesome bathroom. Love the free snacks and Saratoga water. Decent basement gym with Pelo bikes. Breakfast was also excellent. The hotel is well designed and loved my awesome view of the Public Library. Staff friendly pleasant helpful. Can’t wait to return on my next NYC work trip.

- The location is superb, nothing to complain about. You can access all cool places in midtown quickly. - The service is normal without any surprises. - The interior of room looks good at first, but the layout and design details of the bathroom bugs me a little. For example, the shower doesn't have a door.
