Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stayed a Saturday and Sunday night. Quick and easy checkin. Room was clean and quiet despite being by the elevator. Beds were comfortable. Soap and shampoo are hooked in shower which avoids all the bottles and everyone has enough. We were able to park for free on the street and then moved to a garage Sunday night. No complaints.

This property really needs a refresh or a renovation; our room just felt old and stuffy. The room was small and cramped — try opening the closet and bathroom doors at the same time, but we were on a high floor with a view which was nice. The lobby is small and uninviting. But, the location is great, especially for walking access to SoHo and Tribeca — lots of dining and shopping options only minutes away on foot. Overall, even though I am loyal Marriott customer, I would not likely stay here again.

Hello! I recognize your time is valuable and appreciate the feedback you have taken the time to provide. Maintaining a clean and pleasant atmosphere within our guest rooms and common areas is important and I apologize that we did not fulfill that expectation during your visit. Your comments have been shared with our housekeeping and front desk leaders to ensure this is an isolated incident. Located a block from the heart of Soho, the Courtyard is serviceable. Staff is efficient and polite, housekeeping is offered every other day but they actually cleaned my room everyday. The biggest ding for me was the VERY slow elevators- very slow moving and sometimes only 1 working elevator. Hotel is very close to my office, lots of great restaurants, cafes and shopping.

Basic Marriott Courtyard, but just what I needed, with a great staff, and in a wonderful location. The rooms are basic, nothing fancy or modern, but they are clean, and for New York, a good size. The staff here was very professional. I’m not big on trying to advertise my Marriott ambassador status, but they really made me feel appreciated here. The rate for this area is very reasonable. Things in the east village and lower east side can get very expensive, so this was a nice reprieve from the 600-700 dollar price tag. I was staying here after having three consecutive flights cancelled, so the laundry facility was a lifesaver. The washer and dryer were very clean, which is not the norm for most hotels. They have a nice little pantry with wine, water, snacks. They also have a Starbucks and dining/lounge area. It’s pretty quiet compared to many venues in this area. The blackout curtains aren’t amazing, but they are ok. I always travel with a sleep mask. The beds are soft. Right next to the Houston subway line, the number 1 train. Easy access. This might be one of my new go-to spots for business travel.

Complete bait and switch/false advertising of the room. On several sites, including their own, the double room was listed as 314sqft. When we finally got to our room - after midnight - we were dismayed to see it was about half that size. For two adults and a teen, that’s not nearly enough space for a 10-day stay. We stayed that night and told them we needed a refund on the remainder. They agreed to a partial refund but insisted on charging an early checkout fee equivalent to another night’s stay. If this was our fault, I’d have no issue with that extra night’s charge. However, this was entirely due to the blatant misrepresentation of the room by the property. Marriott has long been a go-to, but never again!

Excellent service. I stayed there after a fire in my building. Staff was courteous, helpful and efficient. Extremely comfortable beds, water pressure in the shower and large room with amenities. Excellent coffee shop, Seven Grams around the corner.

This Courtyard is clean and comfortable with a convenient location to Soho. Rooms are small but it's NYC after all. My issue is with reaching a manager. I left a large packing cube with some of my favorite clothes in the room. I realized my mistake upon unpacking my suitcase and tried multiple times to reach the hotel manager. Despite leaving messages, I never received a call back. I did speak with a couple of nice people at the front desk who checked lost and found for me but I still would have appreciated a return call from a manager. I hope whomever found my packing cube is enjoying my clothes as much as I did.

Even though this hotel has extremely small rooms and a view facing the wall of the building next door, I have stayed here whenever I visit a client in SOHO because I have been a loyal Marriott customer for many years (Lifetime Titanium Elite status). During my last visit to NYC I had to cancel due to health reasons. I called the Marriott Bonvoy number 2 days before my scheduled reservation and canceled. I was told that my 48 hour cancellation was within the hotels 72 hour policy but my Lifetime Titanium Elite status provides me with same day cancellation privileges so 48 hour notice is good and I was issued the cancellation confirmation. The hotel still charged me the $360 for one night stay. I called the hotel directly and they told me their policy can over ride the Marriott Bonvoy policy. Not sure who to be more disappointed in, the hotel for sticking me with the $360 charge or the Marriott Bonvoy team who does not have a grasp of what the company policy is. The bottom line for me is to stop with the blind loyalty for Marriott properties and start opening up my options to other hotels. Just booked a 3 night visit to Philadelphia at the new Hyatt. Time to start opening up my hotel options to the best available.

Very good hotel for the price. Sleep quality was high due to the comfortable bed, dark room and low noise level. The staff were friendly and helpful. Location was excellent for visiting the village and walking to the 9/11 memorial. Not a luxury hotel, but checked all the necessary boxes. Would stay again.
