If it"s a "been there!" experience...you've kinda missed the boat. I stayed there in 1992 - just so I could say I had and it was a dump & the room was dirty and had cockroaches. It's certainly moved on from that. The art is a highlight and the wooden gothic feel is always welcome to me but if it's... More

Stayed there for 5 days while in NY with friends. Very different from anything I was used to. Old wooden furniture in the rooms, and beautifully decorated lobby with rare pieces of art. Fabulous paintings on the walls on every floor. The lobby is a great place to relax, read a book and admire the art around you. Impossing building... More

We loved every minute of our stay, Hotel Chelsea was a fabulous place to be, 610 was a big suite of 7 rooms, comfortable and stylish. We were stuck in NYC due to the volcano ash cloud so we also stayed in 520 as well, great rooms, great history, great hotel.

used to live in NYC and anytime I visit I try to stay there. To me this hotel is a true essence of NY - old strange building with beautiful art in hallways and lobby. Slightly squeaky floor and large doors - give a very gothic feel. You get a fabulous room with high ceiling and view of the city... More

I stayed 1 night in the Chelsea and that was enough! I'm a huge music fan (other half a musician) so it was a must whilst in New York! Room was dark and a bit mouldy, in desperate need of an update! However, in a weird way it added to it's charm! This is not a posh hotel but a... More

I used to sublet the very top apartment (Room # 1030) from a rich guy from Luxembourg who lived there for a long time. You had to sidestep a lot of silliness and drama, however, it was a great place to be.

This Joint is no more. It has closed and is sold. It's a shame. I'm happy I managed to spend a night at this "museum". Not for the comfort, but for the atmosphere, history, architechture, art and just for this "been-there" thing. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2028125/Hotel-Chelsea-New-York-closes-Where-Dylan-Thomas-drank-death.html

This place is terrible....I gave it a two-star rating based on it's history and it is kind of cool to say you visited and stayed at such a legendary place. So yes, that's great...now to the actual HOTEL itself. Don't stay here! For the price, you can do much better in the city of New York. The rooms are dirty,... More

This is not a four-star, fancy hotel where you will be pampered. It is a living piece of history and its charm comes from knowing that the hotel is historic and has seen some amazing things. The rooms are nice and clean. definitely not fancy, but you are also not paying that much (considering its location). If you want a... More

Love, love, love this hotel. The restaurants, the rooms, the vintage feel of it. However, the last 2 times I've gone there the Sauna and Steam room have been broken. I wish they'd keep the maintenance of it up, definitely one of my favorite things to do at this hotel.
