Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Pros:
*affordable & good value
*great location
*clean
*mini-fridge in room

Cons/Areas for improvement:

*room décoré is dated and in need of a renovation to make it more modern

*little to no ventilation in bathroom

*very weak/low power hairdryer in 1204

*front desk employees won’t accept outgoing mail, not even postcards…really? At any hotel I’ve ever stayed it is common to give outgoing mail to the front desk.

*no area for luggage storage, another common feature hotels offer…because of no luggage storage, I had to drag my luggage around Manhattan for 5 hours as I went sight-seeing before my evening flight. However, Juniors Restaurant near Times Square offers luggage storage for patrons.

In closing, I’d gladly stay at this hotel again given the pros. However, there are areas hotel management should consider improving.

I will start with the good first. The location is excellent, the housekeeping staff are amazing and despite having extremely outdated rooms, they were clean and well maintained. The pictures shown are not what they really look like . On the other hand, I didnt like that I paid for one specific room and got downgraded to another room the day before I was to check in. If i pay up front for a Premium 2 King room then I should have that, or be compensated for the downgrade. When I emailed reservations and asked in person, no one could give me a reason why. Since it was non refundable I had to just take what was offered.

The elevator was slow but you got used to it. I don't think i would go out of my way to reserve a room here again.

Our booking was for 2 queen beds but we ended in a small room with two twin beds and they wouldn't switch our beds. Paid more for less. Disappointed. The only good thing about this place is the location. So many restaurants lined next to the hotel. Very close to Macys. We booked this to watch the Macys parade and yes, it's location is convenient.

We got there after a very long flight and found a dirty stained very old room. The sheets were dirty and there were no!!!!!towels at all. I went to the reception asking for a clean room or at least towels so we can take a shower after 20 hours on the roads. The receptionist told me that there are no clean rooms as there is no cleaning staff and that the towels will not be supplied for at least 2 hours because the hotel doesn’t have them. That is when we are asked to pay 200 dollars a night not including the taxes. They present themselves in booking as a 4 stars hotel and they are not even a very cheap motel!!we left immediately but had to pay a cancellation fee!!! Horrible experience

Not the best hotel and we paid a lot to stay here. The hotel and rooms are quite dated, the resort fee is ridiculous, and my colleague had issues with some really noisy people in the room next to her, and the hotel staff couldn't be bothered to do anything about it. Only plus is the proximity to all sorts of delicious Korean food.

I arrived late (about midnight) due to a flight delay and they couldn't find my reservation. I was able to find an email with the confirmation number so they sent me across the street since all their rooms were occupied. They told me that the Hotel at Fifth Avenue is own by the same group as the Nyma (I was glad I only had to spend one night there).

They told me to come over the next morning and they would hold my bags until my room was ready. But when I arrived around 10 am, my room was ready and I didn't need to check my bags. They told me that they'd upgraded my room due to the inconvenience the night before (apparently it was a bit larger). I'm not sure it was an upgrade...I'd stayed there several years before in an identical room (different floor). The rooms that end in 05 seem to be the larger rooms.

I appreciated the microwave and fridge (I'd requested a room with those features). The room was clean and they even came in the next day and made the bed, provided fresh towels, etc. (something even expensive hotels have cut back on due to Covid-19).

They no longer serve breakfast, but it's not a problem to pick something up from the numerous stores/restaurants in the area and tucking it in the fridge for the next morning.

The toilet didn't seem to flush correctly and they sent someone up to fix it within 15-20 minutes.

This hotel is a scam. They cancelled our room a month after confirming it with no warning citing issues with our payment. Yet their is no issue with my card and it was not supposed to be processed until we arrived. The reviews about their greed for extra hotel fees almost scared us away from booking but this was not expected. Seems like they cancelled to raise the room fees to resell. Best to avoid booking to not have a surprise cancellation. I have been writing them politely for a week to understand but no response. Now I have heard they did it to other people as well.

The Hotel used to be in a nice area but changed drastically. Drunks, beggars and homeless people all around the Hotel. Only one receptionist when we arrived and we had to wait an hour to check in. The worst part was checking out. We had to leave our room at 1200 and we were shocked to learn that the Hotel had no place to store our luggage. Our pick up to the airport was at 5 o'clock so we had to drag our suitcases 2 blocks, pay 30 dollars to have them stored in a souvenir shop. This is the 1st Hotel we've been to that doesn't offer you a place to store your luggage. We have been to this Hotel many times, but after this trip we will never go back. The Hotel offered contactless check in but none of the machines worked.

My friends and I reserved 2 rooms back in April and they were confirmed. A day before received email welcoming us for our stay at the NYMA Hotel with pictures of the hotel. Arrived and was told hotel was closed and reservations were moved to a hotel across the street and they had no rooms with the previously requested king (2) beds. No option but accept since it was marathon weekend and all rooms in the city booked. No apologies, no explanation. Many others in the hotel had the same experience and were angry. Can a hotel get away with this????
