Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A cosy, happy, friendly place. Very cheap and basic but that's all you need. Just round the corner from the amazing Tick Tock diner and a short walk to Times Square, Madison Square Garden and the Empire State building. Just pray you don't get a snorer in your dorm! I actually preferred the other location at East 12th St, but that's long gone now. Have fun.

stayed only one night in a twin room. rooms are a bit shady, with old beds and (prolly) also old matresses. bathrooms and showers are tiny and dirty. common area is a bunch of chairs and tables in a room. breakfast is pretty ok considering the price. ok for one night or two, if you bring your own sleeping bag and sanitizer for the bathroom.

i stayed 6 nights in the hostel and enjoyed my stay in new york a lot! the hostel is nicely situated near penn station, a big subway and train station right under madison square garden. in the hostel there is one female dorm and one big mixed dorm. he mixed dorm is in the basement, but has also a window. breakfast is included and you can use it for socialising with other guests because all eat at the same table, conversations are easy to start. smaller hostels like this are better when you travel alone because you better get in touch with people! there is also a little patio outside. the hostel is clean and the staff did its best to make me feel comfortable. the owner heidi is a really nice person and takes care about her hosts. this place is not a "party hostel", that means after 11pm till 8 am guests should respect the night time and big lights are off.

It has one room for girls only and a larger one for the rest, with about 15 beds in the basement with no windows which makes the place a little smelly depending on the guests. The mattress could be thicker but the linen are clean. The common room is small, that can be a problem if the hostel is full of guests, specially in winter when the back garden is not the best option to stay (because of the cold weather). Heidi, the owner, is a great hostess, very kind and attentive. Eva, Rebeca and Angelo, from the staff, are very friendly and helpful too. But Karina and Jay... guys, you really need to improve your social skills. The place is kept quiet after 11pm, so you will enjoy a nice sleep after a busy day. Breakfast is included, good enough to start your day.

I can only recommend this Hostel. It is cosy and lovingly managed. When we arrived there in December (it was kinda late and freezing cold outside) they automatically offered us tea and coffee and we felt home right away. Also the next day we could leave all our stuff in the Hostel and could pick it up in the eve before we left NY. Staying in the Chelsea Center West Hostel makes the trip to NYC even more special.

I stayed at Chelsea Centre West 6 nights last December. As soon as I arrived, the staff from the hostel introduced me to the other guests, very friendly atmosphere. Heidi, the owner, is very sweet and always try to be helpful. The hostel is very clean, the location is perfect and for NYC it is very good deal. I highly recommend this hostel.

Very well located, the Chelsea center is a small hostel where you can enjoy a friendly and personal atmosphere. The staff is lovely and always ready to help: you will feel really safe. Every morning, a light breakfast is provided, and it's the best moment to get to know people and make new friends. Chelsea center offers then a different and very positive hostel experience as a small center with max. 20 people.
