I lived in NYC for many years and I HATE staying in the huge midtown hotels. This was a small apartment (just like living in NYC), in a great neighborhood. I felt like a local again! It was comfortable, quiet, clean, convenient - all good. If you want to stay in a hotel, this is not a good choice. If... more

We chose 254 East vacations because we needed more room than a standard NY hotel at a price we could afford. So, the price part was fine. I got a reasonable rate. The locations is fine. Close to markets, shops, restaurants, subway, central park, etc. However, for a 9 night stay, we did not get any housekeeping. I had to... more

This is a quirky, little apartment in a truly wonderful location. IT was clean and neat. It was very small. My sister and I and my nephew stayed in the loft apartment for 4 nights. We enjoyed our stay tremendously. We have no real complaints. Small issues--we were not sure what to do with the trash and having a teenager... more

East Vacation is hardly the fashionable upscale site it appears to be from its website. fine if you are looking into other peoples uptown apartments in the same street but Danny's East 74th is dirty, run down, badly in need of a complete makeover. its motel hell, cheap fittings, 1980's decor, no real sense of being in an aparthotel. There... more

I stayed at 254 East Vacation for almost a week and had a pretty good time. It's not quite a hotel and not quite a bed and breakfast… So, if you want either of those, I might suggest looking somewhere else. However, if you're looking for a more authentic stay in New York City, then this might be the location... more

i'm sorry to have taken so long to write this review, but that is no reflection on the apartment or location. everything about this place is quirky and wonderful. just a nice size, great location and fab restaurants and shops on your doorstep. a great walk into manhattan, getting to shop at less 'showy' but equally great stores on the... more

This was our first visit to NYC so we don't have a good basis for comparison, but overall we were somewhat disappointed with our stay here. We spent 3 nights at 254 East Vacation and paid $300/night for a suite on the second floor that had 2 double beds in a small bedroom, a fold out couch in a very... more

This place has gotten such bad reviews lately that we only agreed to stay there when everything else was full. What a pleasant surprise! Maybe they have cleaned up their act, and we only saw one room (5th floor, front), but it was clean, tastefully decorated, in a great neighborhood, and convenient--a few block walk to the 77th St Station... more

We thought it would be fun to stay in a non-traditional hotel for a change, and the price was right at about $300 a night. The photos on the website looked great, however we were very disappointed when we arrived. The entryway was run-down and dirty. We stayed in the first-floor loft, which has a double bed upstairs and a... more

We rented apartment 3A knowing that the building has no lobby, no attendant on site and no elevator. We knew we would have to carry our bags up 3 flights of stairs. But we weren't prepared for how grim the place is. The small galley kitchen is OK. The "living room" is a pass-through from the kitchen to the bedroom,... more
