I stayed at Village Guest House on Washington Pl for 4 nights in June & cannot say a bad word about the place! It was perfect....my own, individual space, leaving me free to explore the city as I wish. Colleen was a great host & the rooms she has set up definitely began to feel like a home away from... more

Spent a week in A's Room on the 2nd floor. Is nicely furnished with 2 comfortable double beds, 2 club chairs, TV, ample closet space (2 closets plus a stand alone) and a contemporary bathroom. My friend and I arrived to an unexpected heat wave (90F) and were disappointed that the window AC unit had not yet been installed. Colleen... more

Getting here from JFK airport by subway was really easy. We took the A-train from Howard Beach to West 4th Street followed by a two minute walk. Our arrival was a bit unnerving because there's no clue from the anonymous red door that the property is a guest house, and it's not clear which of the two unmarked door bells... more

We had the front room in the basement. The only negative was that we could not open the windows and could be a little noisy at times during the night. But these were minor things considering that the room was spacious, had a little kitchen/fridge which was useful for breakfast, a tv and cable, telphone for local call and a... more

My family of 4 stayed 4 nights in the Garden Room of Village Guest House in February 2009. The location is great, and the subway stops are close. I would like to emphasize that Colleen is a wonderful hostess. One of my sons badly bruised his knee on the first night we were there, and I asked Colleen for extra... more

I don't usually write reviews on tripadvisor but this was definitely one of my best accomodation experiences and I have travelled and stayed in many places. Honestly no complaints. Colleen is a great hostess even though we didn't get to see her much. We stayed at 17 Barrow St. and the Front apartment at 123 Washington Pl., very spacious and... more

I stayed in VGH for almost a week during late November 2008. Colleen is a wonderful host and had nice recommendations around for dining and other stuff. . The room was twice as spacious compared to any other Manhattan hotel and the room seemed to be clean. VGH is situated in the very best part of Manhattan. 3 minutes walk... more

My Mother & I stayed with Colleen in January for just under a week. The house is in a really cool spot, within easy walking distance of the Villages - Greenwich, East and West; and the Meatpacking District. The West 4th St/Greenwich Village subway is a couple of minutes walk from the house, as is Washington Square for a fix... more

My partner and I spent 3 weeks travelling across Canada and the US in Jan 2009, New York was our final stop (for 5 nights). I was really excited about staying here having read the reviews, but left a bit deflated. The plus's: 1. Brilliant location - subway down street, greenwich village is fab 2. Building is decorated beautifully 3.... more
