Wow! What a fantastic find the Desmond Tutu Center turned out to be. I stayed in a quiet, well appointed room that lent the feel of a stay in a fashionable home. The view outside my ground floor room was lovely and the service was swift and unobtrusive. I was near some of my favorite restaurants and shops and just... More

We stayed here in January of 2011 for two nights. The location was great-easy to get everywhere. Even with it being a great location, it was very quiet. We loved our stay, both in New York City and at the Desmond Tutu and would definitely stay there again. A lot of fun!

We were a bit disappointed in our stay here, as the pictures we had seen made it out to be a lot bigger/classier than it was. The room was extremely small and we were hoping (and expecting from the photos and reviews) for a little bit more than just a plain lobby with a desk. It was a very mediocre... More

Attended a conference held at the Desmond Tutu. Had a nice room. Was very quiet considering this was NYC. Was across the street from the high-line so had the opportunity for a nice walk. Never visited the Chelsea area which I would like to visit again. Staff was very helpful.

We stayed at the Desmond Tutu for 3 nights in a 2nd floor room that was very comfortable and spacious for NYC (20x12 not including bath area?). The staff was laid back but professional, the room was clean, fixtures new, good wifi. It is a 3 block walk to the subway, then a direct shot uptown to Central Park area... More

This was our first time in NY, I followed the reviews and booked three nights here. What a dump. They moved us to three different rooms. The rooms were old and dirty. No closet in one room, curtains would not close in another they were to small. The safe was a joke not even bolted to the floor just sat... More

When I arrived I was given a tiny room with a double bed which the staff insisted was an undersized queen bed. I was offered an upgrade at additional cost. With the additional cost, the room was no longer a good value. Not a bad value but similar to what Sheraton charges. The new room was spacious, the queen beds... More

We stayed at the Desmond Tutu for 5 nights in a corner room that was very comfortable . I found the staff to be professional , friendly and helpful. We really liked the area that was near the high line , Chelsea markets and lot of good cafes etc. The bus went down 10th avenue which was handy. There is... More

This is a great deal, and a very comfortable and attractive place to stay in NYC. I use it every time I visit. Staff is as friendly and welcoming as you'll find in Manhattan. On a par with, say, a Hilton Garden Inn hotel. Historic, renovated building in fashionable Chelsea, on the grounds of The General Theological Seminary. Great selection... More

In our stay for four nights we had only one hic up with our room which was ground level facing 10th Avenue it was the traffic noise.
