A hotel , at least our room on the 8th floor, which is in need of a refurbishment. paper peeling off the walls, stained bathtub, kitchen stove not working for tea making. However, it's one saving grace is the fact that it was very quiet and we slept well, hence the 4 stars and not 3.

Hotel's Favourite
My favourite hotel in Manhattan. We had a double one bedroom suite which was perfect for 3 adults. Great to have a small kitchen area and full size fridge. Comfy beds and bedding. Very helpful staff. We had a small problem with the shower and the maintenance man arrived within minutes and fixed the problem. Love the upper west side, feel very comfortable and good restaurants close by.

First stay at the Hotel Beacon and absolutely loved it! Staff was personable and accommodating, the room was great, and the location was perfect - especially for attending shows at the neighboring Beacon Theatre. Will definitely return on my next visit to NYC.

Very fine guest attention from all members of the staff including Luc Henry and Swapna Sharma, the concierge and all the bell crew. Great location for the American Museum of Natural History and even Lincoln Place. Quintessential NY coffee shop, The Viand is next door with a theatre on the other side. Central park is close and it's a straight shot across the Park to the Upper East side.

Decided on this hotel based on proximity to family in the area and was quite pleased with the experience. The staff is inviting - always acknowledging you as you come & go. Fantastic location across from a large supermarket and walking distance of many eateries & entertainment. Room/suite exceeded expectations. Extremely spacious with a bedroom separate from the kitchenette/living room. Kitchenette includes all the amenities including a fridge, stove, sink, microwave, dishes, etc. The king bed was comfortable. We plan to stay here again when visiting next month.

Australians on holiday. Stayed for 6 nights in two room suite. Very handy that they had a kitchenette with microwave and that there is a market across the road. Quiet area and short walk to 72nd St and Broadway subway for easy access to attractions. Room was comfortable, bathroom a little on the small side to fit all our toiletries. Chairs for all three of us which was good. Received a lot of information on arrival from reception plus a good NY map. We were told they had a laundry that we could use; it was not advertised that they had a laundry on site on their webpages. We would have liked to have known beforehand. Pre-paid for breakfast at Cafe Viand next door. Food was average and some staff seemed bored. Service and tip in our pre-payment was included, but it mustn't be satisfactory to them because we were not treated very well compared to customers who came in off the street and tipped. Maybe the hotel needs to re-negotiate their arrangement with next door. Left early one morning (6am) and the gentleman on duty (no name tag on) said we owed about $1,000 which was rubbish. We had pre-paid for accommodation and breakfast and the only charge outstanding was for taxes etc. which should be less than $100. He also told us we had reserved breakfast, but not paid for breakfast. This was totally incorrect. We offered to show him the booking on our laptop, but he wasn't interested. He said to take it up with Reservations. He printed us an invoice, which we looked at it later at JFK because was had a driver waiting outside. The invoice clearly showed our payments for accommodation and breakfast and less than $100 owing. This gentleman needs to learn how to read invoices. We were unnecessarily worried until we got to JFK and realized that we did not owe approx. $1,000.

Dear PJM6568, Thank you for sharing your detailed experience during your stay in New York City. It's great to hear that the two-room suite with a kitchenette suited your needs well, especially with the convenient access to a nearby market. The proximity to the subway station must have made exploring the city much more manageable. The laundry infromation is on our website but not as visable and as your suggestion we have added it under Hotel Alerts. The incident with our new overnight manager incorrectly stating your outstanding balance must have been quite alarming, but I'm glad it was resolved once you had a chance to review the invoice more thoroughly. Your feedback about the service at Cafe Viand is also valuable, as it highlights areas where improvements can be made in terms of team attentiveness and customer treatment, especially for guests who have pre-paid for services. We hope you'll consider returning to the Beacon in the future. Best regards, Milja Perkovic

Stayed here on a girls trip. The hotel is splendid and the 2 BR/2 BA suite w/ kitchen and living room worked beautifully for our get together. Hotel is clean and up to date and is in a perfect (quieter) location with a great supermarket right across the street and great dining selections nearby. What puts this hotel into the 'fabulosity stratoshere' is the staff. Every single employee was cheerful, helpful and engaging. Really top of the line. Helpful with dining suggestions, directions etc. and they were all very personable. A special shout out to the extraordinary doorman Jet. He took such good care of us. One day we had a bad taxi experience and he was so upset for us and took the time to give us some great tips for future cab rides. We all hugged him when we left. What a sweetheart. Shoutouts also to front desk staff, bellman and housekeeping (one day they jokingly reprimanded us because we were making our beds and "doing their job for them." We all had a good laugh. I look forward to staying at this fine hotel again.

Dear Magical430, We are thrilled you had a fantastic experience during your girls' trip at the Beacon! It's wonderful to hear that the accommodations, including the 2 BR/2 BA suite with a kitchen and living room, met your needs perfectly. The convenient location near a supermarket and dining options adds to the overall positive impression. The highlight, however, seems to be the exceptional team, with every employee being cheerful, helpful, and engaging. It's always special when the team goes above and beyond to make guests feel welcome. Jet,our doorman, seems to have left a lasting impression with his caring and helpful attitude, especially in the face of a challenging taxi experience. It's heartwarming to read about such personalized service. Your shoutouts to the front desk staff, bellman, and housekeeping reflect the positive atmosphere created by the dedicated Beacon team. The playful interaction with the housekeeping team adds a delightful touch to your experience. It's clear that the Beacon team efforts and hospitality made your stay memorable, and it's great to know that you look forward to staying at the hotel again. Thank you for sharing your positive feedback! We can't wasit to weclome you back. Best regards, Milja Perkovic

We stayed for a week in a Deluxe one bedroom Suite with two double beds which was ideal as parents and kids had their own room and privacy. Rooms are a bit dated but clean. Kitchenette is a plus if you do not want to eat out all the time (although fridge located in the bedroom is noisy). Staying a week, we found the laundry room super useful. Location is great with supermarket across the road, tube 3 minutes away and Times Square 30 minutes by foot. Recommended and will stay again.

Dear feebackisagreatgift, Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback about your stay at the Beacon! It's great to hear that the Deluxe one-bedroom Suite with two double beds provided the ideal setup for both parents and kids to have their own space and privacy. The kitchenette is a definite plus, especially for those who prefer not to eat out constantly, although the noisy fridge can be a minor inconvenience. Our maintenece team was advised. We are glad the laundry room proved to be super useful during your week-long stay. The convenient location, with a supermarket across the road and the subway two blocks away. Being within a 30-minute walk to Times Square adds to the overall accessibility. Your recommendation and willingness to stay again speak volumes about your positive experience at teh Beacon. Best regards, Milja Perkovic

Jenny checked me into my suite and she was absolutely welcoming and respectful. Kind was also the knowledgeable concierge on overnight duty that pointed us to a fun late-night/early morning bar a couple of blocks away, the friendly housekeeper and the courteous bel man who held our luggage after checkout really stood out in terms of their hospitality. The suite was absolutely clean and looked over the Broadway. It included a kitchenette and a Koerig machine. I had wish there was an herbal tea available in the room. I loved the plush towels that had their logo and branding on them. Nice amenities. An umbrella was in the room as was a small locker. We visited the Natural History Museum and enjoyed two vegan restaurants in the neighborhood. Starbucks was across the street and Fairway, a great grocery, also. Very convenient to Lincoln Center, the subway, Central and Riverside Parks. A lively and attractive neighborhood. I grew up in Manhattan and this is one of my favorite areas. Second stay at the hotel. My husband really likes the hotel too.

I think this was our 10th stay at the Beacon over the past 15 years. I won't stay anywhere else in New York. The location is superb (close to subway, grocery stores, Central Park, river), the rooms are huge with small kitchen and dining table so you can eat in. It makes being away for a long time do-able to have the space to have the older kids in the lounge room and our own separate bedroom. We had 16 nights here this trip (2 adults, 2 adult kids) and it was totally comfortable because we had so much space. The laundry is great and means you don't have to pack as much as you can wash on the go. I have met some great people in the Beacon Laundry over the years, it's actually really fun to go do laundry there! No it's not 5 star and you don't get turndown service or chocolates on your pillow, but when I'm away for weeks at a time I want somewhere that I can feel at home in and have space to eat and move around. The bathrooms are small but you manage. Housekeeping is great and I do love that you don't wash the dishes/glasses/cutlery you use - housekeeping replace them every day with fresh ones so you know they are nice and clean and sanitary.
