I love Hotel 17. My sis and I were very concerned with NY's expensive accommodations but we were lucky to find this hotel. The location is great as it's very close to Union Square and the subway. There is M1 bus stop nearby to go straight down to Madison Ave. We felt very safe walking back at night as the... more

I stayed 2 nights at the Hotel 17. Well, NYC rooms are expensive so finding a room less than 200 bucks was a challeng... The hotel 17 is nice for NYC. (I mean there would be no way me paying 200 dollars for this type of room in any other city but hell... you re in NYC...) -->The room was... more

This was recommended and I was nervous as not near central park and still about $145 a night (including taxes). But the room had good facilities - a hairdryer, TV etc, and the shower and toilet was almost directly across from my room which made that easy. Gramercy Park is a safe feeling, popular area, and Union Square has some... more

I have now stayed at Hotel 17 four times over the last 5 years and until someone points me in the direction of another hotel in this price range in this fantastic location - I'm not going anywhere else! Have found the staff always friendly and helpful, the rooms clean - although this time we were in a very small... more

This place wouldn't win any prizes for its decor but who cares about that when you're in New York City. What is important is that the room was spotlessly clean and the bed was very comfortable. The communal bathrooms were also clean and I only had to wait once or twice during the 8 nights I was there - and... more

Again, Trip Advisor comes through. I would never have heard of Hotel 17 without researching Trip Advisor and never have experienced this charming European-style hotel on West 17th near 2nd Ave. All the reviews are right on the mark, superior value for your money in the safe, walkable East Village neighborhood. Sure, Hotel 17 is slightly worn with small rooms,... more

We, a family of 5, stayed here for 3 nights in 2 rooms, a double and a triple. 2 Nights were booked via a travel website, but later we decided to add a third. This booking was done directly with James from Hotel17. I got a confirmation from him via email that the 3rd night for both rooms was ok.... more

Stayed 2 nights in february 08. Booked via hotel website and paid 150$/night for a double with bathroom. Room was small but pleasant and clean. Great value for a budget traveller in NYC. Pros: cheap and well located. Cons: no wifi, can be a bit noisy in hallways. more

A friend that had stayed there some years previous recommended hotel 17 to me. She said it was very basic, a bit gloomy, but very good value. I love a bit of value so we decided to stay there during our trip in October. First impressions were mixed, everything seemed so small and dark, and the décor bordered on gothic... more

Stayed in this hotel in Apr 2008 with my boyfriend and I guess we got pretty much what we expected for the money that we paid. The best thing about this hotel is the location, no doubt. Even though both of us had been in New York several times before and we thought we knew the area pretty well, we... more
