We have stayed in many hotels in NYC including the best reviewed and highest priced. The overall experience at the Carlyle is superior to any of them. More

This hotel situated in the smart upper east side of New York does everything to restore one's faith in proper hotel management and attention to detail. Everything works the way it should. You are taken up and down in the lift by a smart bell boy and service in every way is what this hotel is about! The rooms are... More

I chose the Carlyle to propose marriage. What a wonderful evening we had -- the exquisitely appointed room with stunning terrace, champagne and strawberries, outstanding dinner and breakfast delivered to our door, bubble baths in the soaking tub, warm and friendly staff. All around a fabulous place to stay for a special night. And very gay friendly!! More

Christmas lunch at Carlyle Cafe had been booked way in advance, sounded wonderful, looked impressive on their website, expensive @$150/head but we wanted a lovely place to celebrate Xmas in NYC. Major disappointment. Hotel decor lovely. Lunch service appalling, bungling inept waiters and captain. Food boring, overcooked, uninspiring and they even ran out of Xmas pudding! Atmosphere lame, tedious piano... More

We stayed in a 2bd suite at the Carlyle for 10 days over Thanksgiving and left with mixed feelings. The Good: location, the quiet and sublime lobby, the concierge especially Dwight, the residential feel of the place, good mattress and pillows but not excellent, good cappucino's. The Bad: small bathrooms with zero luxury as in no heated towel bars, no... More

We had a great two night stay at the Carlyle. We booked through Amex Fine Hotels and Resorts and were upgraded to a suite on the 10th floor when we checked in (Room 1020). It was a very spacious, elegant 2 room suite with 2 bathrooms and a teeny kitchen. The bed was very comfortable. The only drawbacks were no... More

This hotel is classic old New York yet quite affordable. The staff treat the guests exceptionally well without looking at you blatantly for a tip after every service provided. The bar is a gorgeous and the spa is small but luxurious. More

The Carlyle retaurant is hailed as one of the last bastions of traditional haute cuisine.Whilst there were small glimpses of good food the overall experience is mediocre at best. The beef wellington was excellent but my daughters lamb was overcooked and indeed dried out.The creme brulee was not caramalised but burnt. The vegetables were soggy. A dining experience is not just the... More

My daughters and I spent three nights here in October. Usually I stay at the Surrey, but I thought I would give this hotel a try, because I heard they had renovated the rooms. The photos on the website looked amazing. I booked some sort of suite and they upgraded me to, I guess, a bigger one--and it was huge,... More
