Hotel Edison has been a staple of Times Square since its opening in 1931, when Thomas Edison turned on the lights of the hotel himself. The historic hotel is among the first Art Deco hotels in New York City’s Theater District and has become synonymous with celebrity, art, and excitement over the past eight decades. Hotel Edison’s vibrant energy, spacious accommodations, and notable restaurants and jazz bar provide guests with a one-of-a-kind refuge in the heart of Times Square, within steps of Midtown Manhattan’s premier business and leisure destinations including Time Warner Center, Rockefeller Center, MoMA, and world-renowned Fifth Avenue Shops.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Roughly $250 a day (group rate for a conference being held in the hotel), which include the room and the fees and the taxes and the surcharges and the taxes and the fees. The room was spotlessly clean, including the bathroom, the bath towels were soft and plush. The bed was firm but not hard and comfortable. Sheets so crisp and clean that I asked the maid to leave them on the bed. Great location for showgoers, right in the middle of the Broadway theatre area and only a couple of short blocks to Restaurant Row. Had something of a sour apple trying to check in, possibly because the administration had left her alone at the 3 PM check-in time. But overall, an excellent deal!

Hotel's Favourite
I absolutely LOVE the Hotel Edison! This hotel is a New York classic set in the heart of Times Square. There is a lot to love about this one of a kind property- the location, the art deco decor, the restaurants-Friedman’s, The Rum House, Bond 45- the rooms, the gym and the list goes on and on- but what really sets this hotel apart is their top notch hospitality. I live in NYC, but I send all of my out of town guests to stay at The Edison, because I KNOW they will be made to feel welcome in a city that can sometimes be unwelcoming. I have to call out one individual by name, who just always goes above and beyond to make guests feel welcome and handled- Rommel Gopez. Rommel is always making everyone feel special, whether remembering a name or sharing a friendly word- and I have to mention the Edison Wine Hour! The last time I had friends staying at the hotel, they had cast members from the Barry Manilow’s Broadway Musical “HARMONY” performing! WOW! Needless to say I will continue to send my friends, family and colleagues to stay at The Hotel Edison! 🙏🏻

I absolutely loved staying here. The hotel made sure to hook us up with perks when they found out it was my partner’s birthday, the location couldn’t be better, the Friday wine and music night was lovely and the room was comfortable and clean. We walked everywhere, were right by all the restaurants in Hell’s Kitchen and Times Square and were even close brought to Penn Station to walk to the hotel with our luggage. I’d stay here again in a heartbeat.

Exceptional! I can’t say enough about Danny O’Brien and the staff at Hotel Edison. My 19 year old son was visiting NYC for the first time with his girlfriend and her mother, and after an amazing stay, the mother had a medical emergency before checkout and had to be taken to a hospital by ambulance. Danny stayed in the room while medic was there and spoke on the phone with me about what was happening. He immediately put my mind at ease by telling me the kids could stay at the hotel as long as needed, and that he would keep an eye on them. He made sure we all knew how to contact him if needed, and checked on the kids throughout the day. When it became apparent that they would not be able to leave that day, and that additional family members were needed to assist with returning home, Danny arranged for everyone to remain at the hotel until they were cleared to travel the next day. Following the trip, he also requested an update on how the mother was doing. In addition to all of the wonderful things about the hotel itself, having professional, responsible, and personable staff like Danny O’Brien makes Hotel Edison the only choice when visiting NYC.

Perfect location for seeing Hamilton at Richard Rodgers theater! Right across the street. Beds were comfy, rooms were clean, staff was exceptionally friendly. You can leave bags with the hotel pre/post checkout for $1 per unit. Super close to Times Square and very well located for taking transit around Manhattan.

It is very hard to beat this location, and the staff is excellent! It is always our first choice when looking to go to the city for a few days. I would recommend using 46th Street to unload luggage. It is not the bellhop side, but it normally has much less traffic. Highly recommend!
