This was our first visit to New York as a family so where else to stay apart from the Waldorf Astoria...? The marketing blurb portrays a very elegant picture of a 1930s art deco masterpiece locked in time and unleashed on the 21st century. On arrival in the lobby, this image stays true, but once you venture from the public... More

This hotel is, as some say, an Icon of NY. However it is also massively understaffed. The staff that are there are fine but there are just not enough of them. It is impossible to get through to either the reception or any of the functions such as laundry. It took 20 minutes in total of calling for one thing... More

For a recent trip to New York, my wife and I made a reservation at The Waldorf, which spells her name “Waldorf=Astoria.” What’s up with that equal sign? Anyway, we did so because we like to occasionally stay in important historic hotels with a civilized and formal ambiance. That may not be for everyone, but we love to dress up... More

The building is a fantastic Art Décor example ,the beds are very > comfortable , and rooms adequate and well stocked if a little tired . I had a charge for a bottle of water and a phone call on my credit card 4 hours before I arrived so worth checking as the receptionist was unconvinced until I pointed out... More

Had a wonderful stay last night at the Waldorf, and for less than a lot of other chain hotels! It was our first time there. Our bellhop was especially friendly. Everything is elegant, with a lot of the old time charm preserved. There are displays in the lobby showing the history of the hotel. Would definitely stay here again.

What do you expect from the Waldorf? Cleanliness, efficiency, a hint of 'specialness,' a touch of nostalgia and service that suggests these people know what they're doing and enjoy doing it. The hotel delivers it all, plus a good location (subway a block away, plenty of restaurants nearby, theaters and other good stuff walkable if you're a reasonably good walker).... More

Booked this Hotel over the Internet cause of the name and the history it has. Also the location on Park Avenue is excellent you can reach most of the sights by foot otherwise it is very close to Grand Central Station. When we arrived there was an immense queue for the check in (we saw this happening on all days... More

This hotel is always a treat to stay in. It has old charm and I bet very little has changed over the years. It is very close to many things and has easy access to taxi service. It is a true New York City experience....and I thought the price was surprisingly comparable to other hotels in the area.

This was our second visit! The last one being 2009. We were really impressed with the room. It seemed a updated version of last time. It was roomy, clean and classical modern. Everybody was really helpful and friendly and even though checkin was not till 3 pm, we arrived just before 10 am and were in our room by 11... More
