The property itself is nicely updated with period detail and charm. The choice of trims, furnishings, and linens is outstanding. Yes, the rooms are on the small side, but not unexpected for a hotel in a prewar building. Quite simply, the Wales looks and feels great. 2 letdowns that other reviewers have already pointed out: 1. The window A/C unit... More

Thank you for taking the time to share with us your experience at the Hotel Wales. Having our guests feedback is an excellent tool to better our service as well as the overall guest experience. It is certainly a disappointment when our guests does not have the experience that we hoped for. I would like to extend my apologies, and... More

We happened to be visiting NYC during a very hot period (each day in the 90's with high humidity). We were all showering twice a day. Suddenly we noticed there was no hot water but it was late at night and we just went to bed figuring the problem would be resolved by morning. The next morning, still no hot... More

I spent three nights at this hotel during a recent business trip. The hotel is week situated in the Upper East End, close to Central Park, restaurants and major university hospitals. The room (617) was also larger than most with substantial closet space. The carpets were dingy and the air conditioning system (window unit) very erratic. I also had unexpected... More

Thank you for bringing to our attention the concern you expressed during your recent stay with us. First and foremost, we take any insinuation relative to a bed bug situation a very serious matter. Over the past few days we have thoroughly researched the matter through the contract with our exterminator. In addition, we also reviewed our ongoing preventive program... More

Hotel Wales offers a great Upper East Side location in a charming and quiet neigborhood just a block from Central Park. The staff are friendly and always ready to help. The standard rooms are compact, but have a character that you don't find in bigger chain hotels. Opening windows are a big advantage, as is the general sense that you... More

I have been staying here for years, and this place has yet to let me down. The room overlooking Madison Ave. was lovely and, even better, the windows could be opened. Fresh air on a lovely spring day! No airconditioner noise - what a gift.

Mixed feelings about this hotel. It is quaint and located on Madison Ave, near the art museums and Central Park, so you pay Madison Ave prices. Room was very small. I laughed when I walked in. We booked a Standard Queen and got a Double Bed. You had two choices for water temperature, hot or cold, nothing in between, which... More

The Wales was perfect for a few days of museum going. It's about a 15 minute walk from the Metropolitan, but also walking distance from several other museums. It's also only 1 block from Central Park and a short walk to the Conservatory Garden. The rooms are small, but well-equipped and comfortable. Our standard room looked onto an air shaft,... More

Very nice upper east side boutique hotel with great customer service. Beds were very comfortable. On the second floor, they have coffee and tea at all times. Rooms are somewhat small, but they work. Overall, great hotel if you want to stay in the upper east side.

The Hotel Wales is like something from the past and somewhere in Europe. It is a very comfortable place with old-style attention to details down to the wooden slats in the window blinds. Working transoms and marble bathrooms is very Parisian. Even thought our room faced Madison Ave. there was little street noise that made it to the sixth floor.... More
