Some people expect perfection everywhere they plop their butts. If you don't enjoy the companionship of the person you're with, or your own company, there's not much to do at The Cliff House Inn. My wife and I only go to relax and enjoy ourselves and each other. For over 20 years we have gone to the Cliff House Inn... more

This place has great views and you go to sleep with sounds of surf just outside the door. The rooms are basic, with odd wicker furniture, but serviceable. The staff was helpful. The very best thing about this place is the Shoals Restaurant downstairs. Absolutely marvelous! I haven't had that great of seafood in a while (and I live in... more

The location on the water is wonderful but there is no beach in front of the property just rocks and a decorated offshore oil platform. The backside of the property is the freeway. Once upon of time this must be a very nice place to stay for couples and families. The building is aging and very unstable; there was mold... more

The hotel is what it is, a seaside motor hotel that's seen better days. Musky and smelling slightly of urine our room had cheesy early 90s era wicker furniture which looked like it was bought from a yard sale. The room also had a mystery door when upon opening it led you to a storeroom with what could best be... more

This was our second stay at the Cliff House Inn, and we've booked a third for next summer. Yes, the hotel is quite funky; it's old, the upstairs walkways tilt a bit, and so on, as I'm sure you've read below. Million dollar views, however, and a short walk north through multimillion dollar homes yields a beach visited by very... more

Although we didn't stay at the Cliff House, we had a family lunch at the Shoals Restaurant. We reserved poolside table that offered a great ocean view. Everything we ordered was delicious and well-presented. The service was...well...relaxed, but not painfully slow. Definitely plan to return. May even stay at the Cliff House. more

Yes the location on the water is great but you also back up to the freeway on the backside. There is no beach in front of the property just rocks and an offshore oil platform. The whole building is leaning forward and the stairs feel very unstable. There was mold on the draperies and the carpets were filthy. The say... more

Like one of the previous posters we found this little hotel had uneven floors and aged wood on the balconies - but we expected that. This wonderful inn is exquisitely, literally on the ocean! The wood has aged, as wood does in high-humidity warm weather. The floor does bow out, although not alarmingly, because of the natural erosion that occurs... more

The Cliff House Inn is a very magical place that is ideal for couples seeking tranquility in an ocean setting. This past weekend my wife of thirty years, and I, had the most fabulous time at the Cliff house Inn. During the whole weekend we got to witness Dolphins playing in the Ocean surf, a variety of wonderful birds, swimming... more

Goodness were we surprised! My husband and I have driven past this place several times, and opted to stay one weekend. The view is amazing, but every other aspect is horrible. It was by far the worst motel we have ever stayed. Smelly room, uneven floor, aged carpet, stains on ceiling. A light used to be on the ceiling, but... more
