Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Used points for a two room suite. Arrived on a Saturday. Employee who greeted us was super friendly even when the computer froze up and check in took forever. Room was spacious and on the first floor. It was clean but could've been cleaner. Morning starbucks coffee was great. My problem was the multiple charges to my card even though I used points. I had to call when I got home only to be told it was tax etc so I explained when you use points it FREE. I ended up having tne manager call me and she straightened it out. Now I'm waiting for the 5 pending charges to drop off my Mastercard. Place is close to just about any restaurant and right off 75. Love being a marriott member and next time we will book the residence on the same road.

This is an acceptable, but not excellent property. The exterior of the building and landscaping show its age, which doesn’t give a great first impression. But, the front desk staff was welcoming and the room infrastructure worked, though the HVAC unit was a bit noisy. The hallway floor on the second floor was uneven and could pose a tripping hazard for those with mobility challenges. The safety lock on the room door was partially pulled out of the jam and would not have delayed an unwanted entry to the room. Complimentary morning coffee in the lobby would be appreciated. I had to purchase coffee for my 6 AM departure. I could have made a cup in the room, but expected coffee in the lobby.

The staff was friendly and welcoming for me and my travel companion from the time we arrived. The check in was smooth and quick, the staff was considerate and thoughtful. The Bistro was perfect and the barista was spot on with our evening meal and our breakfast coffee and pup cup. Our room was very clean and decorated beautifully. Certainly will be on our list of hotels that we would stay at again with no concerns. Kudos to the staff, and thank you for your hospitality.

Stayed one night on a 2 week border to border antique motorcycle race. Room was fine, did not have any troubkle checking in, everything was in the room that we needed. Would stay again, wish Courtyard had free breakfast though.

Dear Birtrand M, Your group was really cool to see all the vintage motorcycles roll through the hotel parking lot. We do hope you did well in the race. We are glad to see we delivered an exceptional stay. We know the need for clean and comfortable when it means taking the break during a trip. Maybe next time you can be a tourist seeing sights like the National Museum of the United States Air Force. They have the largest collection of aviation history under 4 huge hangers. Either way, we do hope to see you again when your travels bring you back to Dayton, OH.

We stayed one night at this Courtyard. We arrived very late and the front desk person was very friendly. This location, like so, many does not serve breakfast but has coffee available. Overall the room was acceptable. We had a Kong suite and it was quite large. I vaguely thought I smelled cigarette smoke when stepping off the elevator on the second floor. In our room, the ottoman had a cigarette burn on it. I am a former smoker so I know that’s what it was. None of this really bothered us as we were there to sleep but I was a bit surprised being a Courtyard. We had no issues with our stay but I did feel over all the rooms could have been a bit more up to par with other Courtyards we have stayed. There was no hand soap in our room and the shampoo and body wash needed refilled. I could have asked front desk to do this, but it was one night so didn’t bother. The staff we encountered was very friendly. I would likely choose another Marriott property in this area if I visited again but it was a completely acceptable stay.

Dear luvthebeach79, Thank you for all the details that impacted your stay. We appreciate guests that take the time to share how we did for them during their trip at our hotel. We use these details to deliver the best stay possible for all our guests. This hotel maintains being a non smoking hotel as its highest priority. We work hard to deliver the best experience of our facilities every time. We are already working to get the upholstery repaired on the ottoman. We have also conveyed to the housekeeping staff the importance of having all our guest room amenities available everyday. We know you have a choice in hotels. We always want our Courtyard to be the best solution in our all our markets. Thank you again for taking the time. Sincerely, Your Courtyard Family

On route across country we stayed only at marriotts. This was the worst experience. Only had one person to man evening and night shift. Many families waiting for help when we got there. My husband went to find someone and we felt bad for him since he was manning the laundry. Restaurant not open and seemed not to have a plan to open it. Appeared a ghost town as if Marriott was planning to shut it down. They were out of soap for rooms. Not as clean as used to. Positive the bed was typical comfy Marriott bed

Dear GlamGram9989, We are working with very limited staff. Combined with limited product availability from vendors. This has impacted shortage issues you experienced. We are hopeful these shortages in staff and resources will lighten up. Thus allowing us to get back to running our hotels fully staffed and without impact to our customers. We thank you for your feedback and are optimistic these event are isolated. We do look forward to returning to normal that will meet everyone expectations. Warmest regards,

Am a fan of Marriott but this place needs some help! Rooms fine, but lobby poorly lit and elevator smells like it needs servicing. Front desk in morning not manned and NO luggage carts available. We had to schlepp stuff from the third floor. No one to ask for help at desk! Trash overflowing in receptacles outside of entrance.

Response from Brian Moore, General Manager at Courtyard by Marriott Dayton North
Responded 4 May 2021
Dear 446margieb, Thank you for taking the time to share your observations regarding your stay. We have found the staffing shortage and increased demand to be a challenge on our day to day operations. Simply because having to divide the same amount of tasks between less members of the team creates a natural delay with some steps. We detail clean all rooms and all high touch areas of the hotel as a priority to help stop the spread of COVID. From your comments we seemed very successful at delivering that promise for a clean and comfortable room. The issues in the public areas align with the amount of time you were in the hotel. Staff is here mostly during the AM shift so items impacted from 3pm to 9am are addressed the following day. That is when we would resolve all of the public space issues you identified. We take great pride in being a Marriott because our guest know what to expect. We will continue to strive to hire the staff to take care of our customers and product. Knowing the pride we share in taking care of our customers needs. We do look forward to your next trip to the Dayton market as our guest. Warmest regards, Brian

We were very happy with our choice of Marriott Courtyard Dayton North. Our room was extremely clean and all items were nicely arranged. Unforutnately due to covid, the breakfast bar is not functioning at this time, BUT they did serve Starbucks coffee. This is a plus in our book! We had a nice conversation with the manager, and he could not have been more gracious. Easy off/on at I-75 with many restaurants choices also at this exit.

On our way through the area and stayed at the Courtyard for 1 night. Rather disappointing for a Marriott Courtyard property. The room was nice, very clean. However, we were only given 1 coffee pod, 1 coffee cup and two shower towels. We went down to the front desk to get more but the inconvenience was annoying. Strange for a room with two queen beds. In addition, the hotel charged us $10 to park in their parking lot. How else would we get to the hotel?? Perhaps that should be built in to the price of the room. This was just an “eh” stay. Glad we are only here for one night.

My fiancé and I booked this hotel on a whim and I was more than pleased about the whole stay considering the poor people from Canada trying to get home making it a bit crowded. From the point I fell asleep to the point in which I woke up i was so comfortable. Emaculate room, same and the halls and even when our booking company screwed up pur reservation the front desk was above awesome and got us to our room saying "Leave it to me, you have no worries here". The only thing that did make me a little sad and worried was the state of the public restrooms just adjacent the lobby area was overflowing with trash and debris...other than that if i could stay once more i would do it in a heartbeat!
