1. The location was good. It was on the main highway and only a few minutes from FDR’s home. In the opposite direction, the Culinary Institute was close as well. There were restaurants and a supermarket within a 5-minute or so drive. 2. The price was very reasonable. 3. The hotel was a typical 1950’s-ish motel. The room was clean,... more
Located on Rt. 9 convenient to FDR home & library, Val-Kill, Vanderbilt Mansion, Staatsburg. 1950's style motel, brick exterior, dreary room. However , it was inexpensive and clean and I felt safe there. Continental breakfast of grocery store pastries, juice, coffee, tea. Towels were ample, but scratchy. Popular old style diner close by. Sadly Rt. 9 in Hyde Park has... more
We stayed at the Golden Manor Motel for one week when we first moved to Poughkeepsie and were waiting for our furniture to be delivered. We stayed in one of their efficiency units which was huge and roomy, had a kitchenette with table, desk, 2 beds and plenty of room for all of our luggage that we were carrying with... more
fairly priced. the only budget motel/hotel i stayed that provides 100% Tropicana orange juice that is NOT from concentrate. And carton of Half-half coffee cream that shows the expiration date. actaully all the breakfast pastries were in the original packages that showed the expiration date, which i always pay attention to. more
The proprietress gave our reservations away, despite early arrival and an advanced deposit, and then tried Trump-style negotiating to get us to take a smoking room. She finally agreed to give us a non-smoking room (that no doubt someone else had booked) but would not honor the AAA discount. Such a class operation, they give you the TV remote with... more
EEEK! This place is Scary! I stayed here on May 3rd 2008. It hasn't been renovated since the early 1960s. Furniture is ancient and broken down. Sheets and towels were stained and had holes in them. Heat was stuck on at 75 degrees. Bathroom is so small you have to sit sideways on the toilet. RUN FAST and FAR from... more
rooms were ok but the service was horrible in the evening and ok in the morning. They acted like they were doing me a favor in staying there and were not pleasant at check in. more
The owners are very kind and pleasant..not at all like the previous review. Adorable grand children photos! Very hard working. The rate is amazing and the rooms are LARGE and very clean (just dated on the decorating and furniture front). That's all most of us ask for...plus it's right across the street from the AMAZING Franklin Roosevelt estate and Presidential... more
We chose this place because it is directly across the street from the FDR site and it had a pool. (We visited during a heat wave.) Provided basic accomodation per the AAA guide book. No welcome. Weird practice of charging up front with a crude hand lettered sign proclaiming, "NO REFUNDS." Desk clerk got angry when my husband could not... more
