I was scheduled to stay at the Greenpoint YMCA for four nights. I stayed only two and checked out on the third day. I stayed for 9 days (Nov 22nd-1st Dec 2006) in room 412 one of the properties deluxe rooms. The total cost was $395.00 which included breakfast at a local diner.The room was old and the carpet was threadbare in parts. I arrived late at night, and woke up the next morning to find my back covered with bites, the sheets splotched with blood, and bedbugs under the mattress. The mattress pad was filthy (hadn't been washed in weeks), and encrusted with bugs and eggs. Nightmare. Now I can only hope that I have not brought an unwanted souvenier back home... more

the ymca is located in brooklyn right across the river from manhatten. there are 2 subway stops within 2 blocks of the hotel, providing easy access to go anyplace in nyc. the neighborhood is heavily polish, safe, with lots of low-cost shopping and restaurants. ask for a "deluxe" room so you'll get air conditioning and a tv with 5 local... more
