I chose Clearwater Lodge because you can enter the BWCAW right from their dock. No worries about shuttles, etc. I have no qualms against heading into the bush alone, so a 5 day personal retreat fit the bill perfectly for me. I stayed in their bunkhouse one night prior to leaving, and one night after getting off the water. The bunkhouse is cheap, roomy and offers indoor plumbing and electric. They offer every aspect of Canoe Country that you would require. Staff is more than willing to help if you ask, but also leave you alone if you don't. Plenty to do and see if you love the outdoors. more
