We stayed there for 2 nights and it was truly magical. The Maharajah and his wife were there and, just like old films, she was on sitting outside being fanned by a servant. They did not mix with anyone however. Our room was large and the bathroom was huge. You truly felt that you were in the 1930's as there were old photos showing hunting pictures of the various Maharajas on the veranda and it had obviously not been decorated since then. The breakfast room consisted of a large table where anyone staying would sit. We met 3 other couples from different parts of the world and shared experiences. The food is freshly prepared and fine. If you wanted an evening meal you had to given them advance warning so they would get the ingredients. Kota itself has an Alligator river which some of the other travellors had been down to. I would recommend this to anybody who wants a truly authentic Indian experience. It is unlikely that someone who want new pristine hotels woul enjoy it. more
