This hotel is an experience - we experienced a 4km(?) somewhat nerve racking climb up a bumpy track at dusk in pouring rain (probably just as well we couldnt see the drop below) but arrived in to the most comfortable and unique place.- it is a beautifully converted tea factory with four storey atrium complete with polished and painted working... more

Staff is not so warm-welcome, not helpful and not considerate. And we have a habit to mail post card of different cities to our home. We mailed a post card in the hotel, but we never got it. We got all other post cards sent from different cities in Sri Lanka. Here is our disappointed experience in details: 1. AN... more

Liked the way they had retained not just structures and artefacts from the tea factory, but managed to give the place the feel of an authentic working building. Although it runs like a hotel you don't feel like you are staying in one - you feel transported back in time, and can sense the working history of the building. It... more

nuwara eliya is very special because of the tea plantation amazing green view, water every where and the cloudy "atmosphere" of the high elevation (approx 2000 meter). the weather is very tricky but it's part of the beauty... the hotel is very unique and one of a kind. we love staying in places with a lot of character and after... more

My wife and I stayed at the Tea Factory in September 2008. I suspect that one's opinion of this hotel may be somewhat dependent on the prevailing weather conditions at the time of your stay. When we stayed at the Tea Factory, it was cold, wet and generally unpleasant. I suspect that if the weather had been better there would... more

Fantastic staff - really friendly and helpful. An unusual character hotel with original features in a beautiful setting. Our stay was not relaxing due to restoration work going on from 8am - 6pm in the rooms on either side of us and a general lack of consideration of other guests with screaming children. more

Just believe everything you read about this place. It is an old tea factory now turned into a 5 star hotel with stunning views. It still has old machinery within that they operate at 7pm every eveing. Fantastic accomodation, great food and friendly staff. It is another one of those hotels that I believe everybody should experience. It is apparantly... more

We stayed at Tea Factory for one night during a tour or Sri Lanka on our honeymoon. We were on an organised tour with a car/driver so had none of the luggage hassles that other reviewers found. We loved the location - we'd previously stayed in Colombo and enjoy rural locations and views so loved the placement of the Tea... more
