Moved from the Hilton to the Chateau, which probably magnified the difference. It was small, clean-ish (could do with freshening up) and basic. But there was also a big difference in price, which was why I moved from the Hilton. I would stay again if my goal was finding a cheap basic place to sleep, but I would probably pay... more

We arrived to New Orleans after a long flight after making a phone reservation directly with the hotel sales manager who told us that the rooms are available from 11 am. Since we arrived at 9am we left our luggage at the desk and went for a stroll round the city. We returned at 11:30 only to be told that... more

On behalf of the Chateau Hotel Management , I would like to offer an apology. The night staff should never have awakened you during the night and should have issued an apology the next morning. The Chateau Hotel has a strict 1pm check-in policy and tell guests as such. We do allow for guests to register and we will store...

We have just returned from a 3 night stay during the French Quarter Festival (room 103). Let me begin by saying that we have been very loyal to the Chateau for our 15 years of traveling there and have recommended the Chateau to many friends & family. We were very disappointed at how the place has deteriorated. The carpet was... more

Thank you for your continued support of the Chateau Hotel. We are saddened to hear this trip did not live up to your expectations. We are currently addressing the need for upgrades. The TV lines were reported to the Front Desk by another guest and we had Satellite repair out upon learning of the bad transmissions and the appropriate equipment...

I stayed 4 nights while attending PyrateCon. The room was clean. There was no smell or smoke or anything else. The hotel is well located for enjoying the French Quarter. This is an old building. The bathroom is not spacious. If you are looking for shiny and modern, go to a chain hotel. If you are looking for a classic... more

The hotel was located on Chartres Street and within two blocks of Bourbon and the French Market. We were not in the main hotel, but in a building across from the hotel that I understand was just purchased. Our room was on the second level and we had quite a few steps to climb in order to get to our... more

On behalf of the entire staff at the Chateau Hotel, we are delighted you enjoyed your stay with us. We do offer discounted rates during the summer and also during December for the Papa Noel specials. Our location is ideal; in the French Quarter, two blocks from Bourbon St and Jackson Square. We hope to see you this summer!

Stayed with friends for Mardi Gras weekend '09 at the Chateau Hotel. The hotel was conveniently located in the French Quarter. That's where the positives end. One of our rooms had no windows and no air circulation. Only heat was available, kind of like a college dorm room in the winter months. If you prefer the consistency and quality of... more

The worst hotel in america! My wife and I have done a lot of traveling around the world and when we stayed at the Chateau for a wedding weekend it was comparable to the worst hostel situation you can imagine. An unfriendly and uncooperative desk staff lent itself to several confrontations after first being put into a smokers room, with... more

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts. We are disappointed to hear that you encountered challenges during your stay, particularly in regards to the mouse you found. We have pest control here on a regular basis and do everything we can possibly do to keep small French Quarter pests out of the hotel. Please know...

In a word, this was quite the picturesque place when I last stayed. Located in an area that is close to most things, the staff was always kind and considerate. My only complaint was the generic breakfast. It has a quaintness and nostalgia that I will never forget. more

i checked many reviews of french quarter hotels. my man smokes, and some hotels don't allow smoking anywhere on premises, even on the balconies. this place allows smoking, but the room smelled fresh and clean. we got the honeymoon suite - the most expensive room there, for $170 plus tax. parking was only $16 compared to $30 for most other... more

After months of going through web sites, we decided on staying at the Chateau Motor Hotel. It is in the French Quarter on the corner of Decatur St. & Chartres St. I do not understand why they use the "MOTOR" in the title because that makes you think of some less desirable place to stay. Maybe because there is another... more
