This was our 4th stay and- besides the initial thrill of discovering this GEM back in '00- our best stay. Under new ownership, the feeling of comfort is totally intact-- but there is more comraderie at breakfast and beyond, now that the innkeeper has breakfast in the gorgeous dining room. We ate together, swapped tips about Jazz Fest, and enjoyed... More

Dale and Dave appear to have gotten the perfect replacement for themselves. WHile we hope that they enjoy their retirement on the road, my wife and I are looking forward to a return stay at the Olive next year!. We were the 3rd couple to check in the week Nancy took over and I have to say she took the... More

We stayed for a week at Sweet Olive, a return visit, but our first since new owner, Nancy Gunn, has refreshed the place and highlighted the beautiful hand-painted walls in the double parlor by moving the breakfast table there and removing old curtains and furniture. Nancy prepares a wonderful breakfast special dish every morning--eggs Florentine, apple bread pudding--in addition to... More

Auld Sweet Olive, just purchased by Nancy, was a welcome change to B&B's in New Orleans. Everything clean, beds almost too comfortable and Nancy actually lends her personal touch to the morning with a home-baked breakfast! Wine at your fingertips. A great weekend!

closed from the French Quarter, in a quiet street, a very nice and calm B&B in a lovely house under the trees. The owner is very pleasant and provide a warm welcome. No doubt that this property will charm you, whether you are a couple, you come with friends or with your family. Everybody will feel there well. and don't... More

The Auld Sweet Olive Bed and Breakfast is a delightful place to relax in New Orleans. The new owner, Nancy, is helpful, efficient, thoughtful and a joy to know. The old New Orleans house is well kept and beautifully decorated in keeping with the style of the house. We enjoyed our stay immensely and look forward to another one in... More

I just returned from an 8 day stay at the Auld Sweet Olive Bed and Breakfast, which as of April 8th has a new owner. The original owners, Dale and David really found the perfect person to pass on their lovely B & B to. Her attention to detail and FANTASTIC cooking skills will keep this spot on the top... More

Four of us stayed here from Dec 21-25 and enjoyed everything about it. Jessica and her daughter Sadie greeted us and they were both very welcoming. The decor and bright and homey and the main hallway walls were filled with framed posters of all things New Orleans. There was a gorgeous Christmas tree in the Banana Room and other really... More

We absolutely loved staying at this B&B. A short walk to the main streets and Dale and David's attention to detail was exceptional. They were great hosts and provided a complete introduction to New Orleans with maps and recommendations focussed on the area where the B&B is based. Breakfast was so relaxed and lovely, and, after searching for days for... More

My husband and I had not been back to New Orleans in many years. When he had to attend a conference for work there, we decided to add some vacation time as well and stay in an area other than the French Quarter. We are so glad we did. Our stay in Auld Sweet Olive was just wonderful. Our hosts... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Utne magazine ranked our neighborhood as one of the hippest in America. Diverse and a bit bohemian, it's a real New Orleans neighborhood filled with people from all walks of life including many artists and musicians. Our better-known neighbor, the French Quarter, is a scenic stroll or three-minute cab ride away. Our bed and breakfast was built in the mid 1800’s and features hand painted “faux bois” wall treatments in each room. ... more   less
